Suggestions for finding doctors who specialize in DIEP?

    So I am trying to get referrals for PS's in my area that do this but I am not sure how to do it. I got some names and when I called to find out if they specialize in this or how many they have done, they asked me to come in for a consult. I can't possibly go around to consults for every doctor, especially in an area as big as Chicago. I don't it's at all unreasonable to ask how many of these they have done before seeing them. HOw else could you find specialists?

    Asking for recommendations here is a good place to start.  I would also Google each doctor and see if he/she has a web page. You might be able to find out what types of recon they do from that.  Also,, do you have any friends who work at your local hospitals? Nurses, etc?  They would have a good idea of who does it and who to recommend.  Also try Googling  "Chicago DIEP surgery"  or similiar.

    I did not have recon, but I did consult a PS about removing the excess skin that the BS left behind. On his website, he talks about DIEP and has before and after photos too. Under "Procedures"  you can see what types of surgery that he does.   I'll include a link to his site here, just so you can see what it looks like.

    The first post od the DIEP 2014 thread has a list of who had surgery last year and many included the name and location of their surgeon. I see someone on that list had DIEP at the University of Chicago. I 'm sure you could message them for more info or post your question on the thread and others from the area will respond.

    Thanks! I was trying to get away from the website thing. I think anyone can make a nice looking website. Because I am in Chicago, I tend to think there are more doctors doing it. But I want the best one I can find if I decide to go this route.
