Your User Name

Wasn't sure where to put this. Care to share some reason or meaning behind your user name? I signed up while still waiting for the official diagnosis with the biopsy results. Someone had told me that BC.org was the best place to go. I stuck with the user name I had just created not even a year ago on the "just breast implants" websites. Oh the irony, huh? SugarCakes, and sometimes simply Cakes, is a pet name the BF had given me for my lovable, huggable almost A cups. Breast Augmentation was totally my idea and something I always secretly planned for once I knew my child bearing and breastfeeding days were behind me. That reminds me... What happened to "breastfeeding reducing the risk of breast cancer"??? Anywho, I so want to ask the PS about a partial refund. Then again, I think having the implants may have made me more in tune to notice the lump myself. I liked looking at them and feeling them.
I sorta want to change it to some fierce, warrior-like name now. I'll stick with SugarCakes, however.

Mine's pretty dull. I like to travel.
I breastfed for 3 solid years (with two different kids). But I did have my kids later in life (40 and 41).

Love to sew, hence sewingnut

My husband spent 28 years in the Air Force - as you know from the movie Top Gun aviators have "call signs" like Maverick and Goose - another pilot friend of my husband's christened me Special K in those early days as a military spouse because my first name starts with K, and it stuck - it has been a nickname since 1984. I was actually surprised it had not already been taken when I signed up for BCO.

That's Spookie in my avatar. Most pet parents call themselves mom or dad, right
-
Love this thread. I picked my name because I am 1) a die-hard feminist from the early 70's and 2) I am mostly "in charge" (some people call that bossy) LOL.

I tried a number of other names (pet names, etc) that were all rejected as others must have already used them. I was quite distraught at the time and thought "oh, if only I get To Be 90 some day" and thus TB90. I am so glad this thread was started. I actually thought about this very topic, but never got around to doing anything about it. Thanks SugarCakes!

oh! I like that too, TB90!!!

Not much thought went into mine, just reversed my name!

I was sick from chemo, thinking of getting healthy & playing golf again.
I have been asked if it is a play on words, due to the lumpectomy .

Ariom: Now I get it! Holeinone is cute and I got that one. SpecialK I thought may be related to cereal
Spookie I had figured out too. Pet names are always a favorite. Love this thread. -
Got my diagnosis on September 12. Also, the name NineTwelve makes me think of the day after 9/11, when we were all in shock, but also we woke up, in a way. I remember reaching out to people I hadn't talked to in a long time during those days. I remember that I really thought about a lot of things I had taken for granted before. Cancer did that for me, too.

I like this one too

Tang is short for tangerine...I came close to being named Tangerine by my parents which happens to be a song by Led Zeppelin. I always thought it would have been cool if I had been named that instead of Amy lol. Chris is my husband's name

NineTwelve, I have also reached out to people I had not seen or talked to in YEARS. Had my best friend from high school and college over last night. Had my other best male friend - we've call each other brother and sister since 4th grade - over last week. Funny thing is we are like 5 minutes from each other! The best thing is we have all embraced each other as if we never lost contact and they and others are rallying behind me and offering to help in all sort of ways.
