Hello Buckeyes!! Hi MammaRay, I am 58 and I live on the balmy shores of Lake Erie. A very cold and frozen Lake Erie right now. I will be glad to see the ice break up and Spring arrive. Although our weather has been good for here, we haven't had too much snow. But I have a huge case of cabin fever right now. Stuck inside by choice, I don't need to go out about and get any germs. I go to rads and right back home. I will be so excited to get out, and back to walking in the fresh air. So what can I help you with? I am home for the evening if you would like to chat. Drop me a PM, and maybe we can talk later?

Hi Spookiesmom. Of course it counts! Once a Buckeye, always a nut.....but I could really use a palm tree, some strawberry shortcake from Plant City, and a beach! It is supposed to -4 below zero Saturday. Why I stay here, I'll never know.

My shoulder is a big ol pain. I am trying to do the simple excercises. Then of a few days of constipation, due to pain meds. That's has resolved. Trying to do some stuff that I can, kinda frustrating......this too shall pass.

Patty, hugs, hope those headaches are diminishing.

    Jwoo, are you back home?

Welcome Mamaray and Daisy Lover. I have been to Oberlin (visit a friend) and Columbus and Fostoria, Ohio. Pretty country out there. I had an Uncle who lived in Fostoria. I am probably spelling it incorrectly.. the farm country is lovely. I was born in Indiana.. It's nice to hear folks talk of their homes and know what that area looks like.

Seeing your posts and photos of the snow makes me happy it's a balmy 55 here and FINALLY stopped raining. Momof 2 hope you get a ride. I love it when kittens go insane and dash wildly around the house. They are so much fun to watch. We fostered some kittens and boy that was fun... stinky, lots of meds and treatments but so fun to play with...and they all got adopted! They were really UGLY tortie kittens.. looked like burn victims. I was thrilled they all got homes. whew.

Spookie- why did you post those pictures above?

Hi Daisy, Amy, and MamaRaybackagain. Welcome

HI1 "this too shall pass" I've spent to much time on the constipation thread LoL to not catch that one. So how long to tennis time? I wasn't successful finding the new glass, but I found those individual butter dishes.

Rosie, I love wood too. Used to refinish furniture--keyword "used to". It was wonderful to get the finished product and a glass smooth feel. Now I'm paying to have it done. :) I have a few really old pieces. Three from around 1840. Two from around 1900. Rest are younger than that. I have a rare Drop Down Armoire. All the pieces come apart and it drops(stacked) down to about 3 ft high. They used to make them that way to put on the covered wagons. One time when we first got it, DH went to move it. He wasn't quite used to the concept. The whole thing came apart. Somehow he got it back together before I got home. DS was about 3, he ratted him out. The look on Dh's face was priceless.

Chevy, Thought you were going to say that was Janie. Wonder if they are telling people to put their wipers up like in the picture to help locate the cars. Good idea. So, happy not there.

Mommy it won't help for tomorrow, but check with the senior citizen transport . They usually have regional services. They may allow you to be transported with a doc's letter. Worth a question. Hope things work out for tomorrow.

Spookie, wish I could post pics. The ones DH took clearly show her image. Too bad the idiot broke the glass.

Those pics were for Sas. There is a story for them.

Probably 20 years ago, this office building installed a sprinkler system. The water sprayed on the glass, caused a chemical reaction. Our water is pretty yucky. Somebody looked at it, said they saw the Virgin Mary in the overspray on the glass. The media took off with that.

It did sort of look like an image of her. Caused horrible crowds, traffic, people were praying there.

Scientists were called in to analyze. Verdict: chemical reaction. The faithful kept praying. Then a young punk threw a few bricks through the glass. More uproar. He got some jail time.

I thought the whole building had been torn down. DH said the Catholic Church is still maintaining it.

The subject came up here last night, and I was close by today, so got those pics

I suppose it did sort of look like her. We went over before it turned into a circus and got really awful. Clearwater PD was pretty much overwhelmed with it

    ok, read back a ways.....

Thanks to all for the prayers & good wishes concerning my shoulder surgery...

Mommy, getting those drains, you will feel like a new women !

Sas, same thing happen to me, years ago. I bought a nice patio set, left the umbrella up, table crashed into a zillion pieces. Found a tile table at Target 50% off. Then when they put the patio furniture 75 % off, I got a wicker set. ( hard plastic ). In fact, since you got me obsessed with thrifting.....yes, your fault ! I found the cutest vintage wicker chair. I am going to paint it & most likely find a cushion. It would make a great plant stand also, but it is in good shape, so will use it as a chair.

CHEVY, those photos of you are precious. I do not have many childhood pics, & the ones I have are disturbing.

Cami, hugs, wondering if your brothers passing is getting harder, since the shock has worn off.

Teka, you said Nettie PM you, alls well? she need a break?

    Tangarang, are you lurking?

Smaarty, thanks for all the fun on WWF.....imageimage

    Hi all!

Happy Birthday, Smaarty! Medicare scares me, just seems so complicated. It sounds like you have it all figured out!

Rosevalley, that article about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (did it discuss Fibromyalgia?) does sound interesting. I did not know that it involved spinal cord inflammation. My friend's middle school age daughter had Fibromyalgia.

Beachbum, I agree - I really prefer to drive... control is good. And, germ avoidance is key right now. There seems to be a lot lurking.

Mommy, I have a two and a half year old cat that still gets the "kitty crazies" - mostly at night now. We have a room where he spends the night, complete with water fountain, toys, a cat climbing structure and upholstered chairs... whenever I leave him out, he chases our other cat, attacks the carpet, randomly darts around the house... basically, makes a ruckus. I think that he is possessed at night. Those drains need to go. Where are you in CT? I go to my oncologist tomorrow, or I would offer to come to CT to drive you... If you are on the Eastern side and you still need a ride, I am free on Friday. (probably not driving to Danbury?)

SAS, now I want to eat chocolate cake.

    MammaRay, hope tomorrow is better!

luvmygoats, you have goats? collect goats? My son attends a college which has a goat as the mascot. They post some videos on FB - very cute goat videos. I also like to find cute goat videos to send him. As you might imagine, he LOVES that. ok, not. Baby goats are adorable.

Spookiesmom, the description of the glass reminds me of a young woman in Worcestor, MA who somehow seemed to inspire paranormal events, weeping statues and bloody crosses... She developed a large following. http://www.telegram.com/article/20070416/NEWS/7041...

Holeinone, thanks for the welcome. Love the beach. Was your shoulder surgery due to arthritis? Hope your pain is easing. I just scratched my head and thought of you... may the rehab go smoothly.

I could not read everything, but hope that I will connect with others later. Wish all of you some deep sleep!

    Did y'all see this one?

Fresh from my shower, I stand in front of the mirror complaining to my husband that my breasts are too small. Instead of characteristically telling me it's not so, he uncharacteristically comes up with a suggestion.

"If you want your breasts to grow, then every day take a piece of toilet paper and rub it between them for a few seconds"

Willing to try anything, I fetched a piece of toilet paper and stood in front of the mirror, rubbing it between my breasts.

"How long will this take?" I asked.

"They will grow larger over a period of years," my husband replies.

    I stopped.

"Do you really think rubbing a piece of toilet paper between my breasts every day will make my breasts larger over the years?"

Without missing a beat he says: "Worked for your butt, didn't it?"

He's still alive, and with a great deal of therapy, he may even walk again although he will probably continue to take his meals through a straw.

Smaarty - Happy Birthday! I was thrilled when I turned 62 = Social Security! Yep - I took it early. Now this is the year DH and I qualify for MediCare. Have been trying to get on the stupid SS website for four days. Just when I'm ready to get on (my time) is when they shut down for maintenance. We decided to stay with Kaiser, and go on Senior Advantage. I think we'll get to keep our good coverage. (I hope-I hope-I hope)

Jazzygirl - I sure wish this forum had a LIKE button, the way they do on Facebook!!!! That way I could "LIKE" your post, instead of referring to it three or four pages later!

    Mags - good one!

    Daisy,

I did have bone spurs in the shoulder joint,& arititis that was removed. I have had some pain in that shoulder for 5 years. Then Cancer was on that side, surgery & rads. Decided last fall to try PT to see if I could strengthen that area. I loved going to PT but made my shoulder hurt more.

The biceps tendon was shredded, labrum torn. I went to a surgeon that only does shoulders, have heard good things about him. I know that the PT will be challenging, but look forward to being active this summer.

Smaarty, YES, we would like to see your design....

Happy birthday Smaarty. Hope you had a fun day.
Mags, that was so funny :)
HiO, sorry to hear about your shoulder pain, hope the pain goes away soon. I know what you mean about disturbing childhood pictures, I can relate.
I'm at that stage in my life where it's time to oversee my moms finances. Lots of fraudulent activity on her last bank statement because mom gave scammers info over the phone...her reasoning, "they seemed so nice and asked about my family" ugh Mom is 83, and married to a 81 year old who decided its best they kept their own houses. He stays with mom a few nights a week. Even though he is her husband, he has nothing to do with her money. Checkbook not balanced in months. I am going to have to take time off of work to help get moms accounts straightened out.
I'm still dealing with scar tissue around left implant. I'm seriously thinking of removing the implants and going flat. Anyone else do this?
Weather looks cold in some of the pics you gals are posting, here in Southern Californiaa we are supposed to be in the 80's for Valentines Day.
    Hugs to all

Hello pawprint, I had a mastectomy 12/15, and now doing rads. The longer time goes by, I find it harder and harder to try to dress in anything that looks good. Now with 1 boob, I almost wish I had none. My reconstruction could not happen during my surgery, so big surprise when I woke up. But at this stage of the game, I'm not too sure I want to spend time in surgery and recovery when I see so many horror stories about reconstruction gone bad. I'm not too sure how long I will have to show off the new girls. Cancer is exhausting!

I'm sorry that you have to deal with so much with parents and such. It can be heartbreaking sometimes. My Mom has Alzheimer's and it is hard to see the decline.

I wish I had nice weather this weekend. We are hoping to not break any records, our low is supposed to be -4 BELOW zero!

I'm too tired to sleep... wired. Just got back from Portland Opera. We saw a fantastic presentation of Carmen. First time I ever saw it and the set was stunning, beautiful lighting, dancing- even flamenco, orchestra and full chorus, including kids. The costumes were amazing and the music just wonderful! What voices..what range and strength. I just can't imagine what a gift it must be to just open your mouth and sing like that. Just carry around your own instrument.. must be so fun. Also you need to listen to the music to realize how much of the score is used in a zillion things.. cartoons, movies you name it. It's such familiar music, but I never attached the pieces to the opera! I mean something would start and I was like Oh I never knew that was from this opera! It was fun and as hard as it was to sit for so long, worth the aching! I enjoyed it so much. If it comes your way, see it. Tenor Chad Shelton (Don Jose) and Sandra Eddy soprano (Carmen) just out did themselves, such talent.

We met up with our daughter (college freshman) and had dinner at nice vegan place before the show. It was so good to see her and catch up. Nice day.. and it didn't rain! Hope everyone had a good day. If you have too much snow, may it stop. If you need the rain, hope it does.

Pawprint- my Aunt did the whole reconstruction and had one side just not do well. It had to be removed. Then she seemed to get flustered and just had it all removed. Too much hassle. She seems happier now they are off. I opted for the flat and just go flat chested. I have for 8 years and don't even care if folks stare. It's more comfy. At 56 and stage 4 who cares. Comfort first.

Holeinone- hope your shoulder surgery works. Heal up so you can head to PT. Howdy to everyone else. This thread moves so quick.. I can't keep up. Long day tomorrow.

Oh wait! Firstly.... Spookie! Dagnabbit, that term you are looking for is

F-A-I-N-T-E-D.... "fain-TED".... I mean PASSED OUT... "Took a Dive" or even "near death."

    Do you mean HYPOGLYCEMIA ????

Wren! So true! But Janie just covers her windshield with this cover thing, that slams in both car doors....

But that picture I posted was on the Internet, showing how deep the snow was in part of Massachusetts... Man, that would have been the worst!

And Good Morning to "Daisy, Amy, and "MamaRaybackagain".... That's what Sass said... Her name is "MamaRaybackagain".... Rather long, but we'll get it. WELCOME! Just remember I don't pay attention all the time, and I miss some of you new gals.... So just never mind me....!

I'll probably shorten your name "mamaRaybackagain" to something like just plain Ma.... or something... Anyway, Nice to see you 3 here.... You know each other? Sass paid you to come here?

I'm the serious one here..Me and Cammi... although you will hardly ever see "Cammille" or what IS her name, anyway? Cams? Cammers? SHE don't even know! The men in her community call her CAMERASHY... it is a term of endearment for her.... She just hates when they make her pose for those "pictures"...... Her "job" involves phones, and money... and well, YOU know... But we love her just the same... even WITH her foibles.

You GUYS!!! It will be ONE YEAR in 2 days that I fell...(and that's another story) and broke my hip! So it's my "HipsNparts" Birthday !!!! Now if EYE can do it, anybody can!

On the other hand, I got great news last night. Hubby was checking his work email when he got home because when he had sent the request to his boss explaining why he was requesting to leave early, he hadn't heard back from the boss before he left work for the day. Thought his boss was going to say "no". To my shock in the email to my hubby he told him it was fine and that my health was important. So it looks like after today the drains are a thing of the past!
