    Turtlelady-

I would encourage you that I also had significant issues with truncal edema but continue to have improvements. I happen to run into the PT who taught me how to do massage today and introduced me to "chips" which are like magic pieces of foam in a net bag that work wonders. I told her I was having a little swelling again but I also have had very busy schedule and haven't kept up on massage or support all the time. I asked her if I always going to have to do the massage and she told me probably but you know what, it is ok. I have learned to manage it and just need to stick with the plan. People on this site stressed the importance of getting PT for lymph edema. I ended up learning it myself after few sessions but may get back in for a "tune up" when I need it. I should say I am an RN and knew the PT who spent a lot of time teaching me different techniques. It is not ideal to learn this way but I had an issue with my insurance and this became a viable option. PTs are great especially those that specialize in lymph edema so go to the experts. I am so glad for the tricks they taught me! Take care of yourself!

Nothing makes me crazier than people trivializing DCIS. It is CANCER. It just has not had the "chance" to morph that one more time to be able to spread outside of the duct or lobe. For pete's sake, we are ALL victims of this disease to one extent or another. It is not a contest! It is our lives. I for one will never be the same since this experience. Even if I live out the rest of my years without a recurrence, I am still shaped by this in some way. Trivializing DCIS is like saying " oh well, you had a miscarriage at 6 weeks pregnant rather than 12 weeks so no biggie!" Honestly that is how it makes ME feel when someone does that! All miscarriages are painful. All BC is terrible. Period!

April-I agree 100%. The C in DCIS is carcinoma after all.
