Hi there I am 40 years old, was diagnosed with BC in December 2011, went through chemo and radiation in 2012 and have been clear and free since. However this past fall in 2014 my periods started getting a little out of whack and I actually went 54 days no period. I am very sexually active so despite having my tubes tied, I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. I went to see my doctor asking if maybe this was an early onset of menopause / perimenopause and he is running blood work. My question to you ladies is, I forgo in taking the tamoxifen from day one. Has anyone else experience this? I have no other signs except SEVERE mood swings!!!? To the point of ruining my relationship.... so I am hoping something is found in my blood work results.

Any thoughts??

    Hi Tracy

Sounds very likely. My periods really just seemed to have stopped and I haven't really had any symptoms at all - very strange but then some people don't. i would think that mood swings are part of it. My periods came back after chemo but I was told I'd go through an early menopause and that's exactly what's happened.

Thanks for the reply RebzAmy. I had no period while on chemo, it came back almost a year to the day I started chemo, and was regular (February 2013) and has been regular since. Just the last couple of months have been pure hell!!! Are you taking tamoxifen?

I had horrible mood swings and insomnia when I was in perimenopause. I felt homicidal or suicidal about half the time, when I'd always been even-tempered and easy going.
