Anyone on tamoxifen & doing HCG diet/drops?

Options

Hi All, I am about to start my tamoxifen as soon as I work up the courage to just pop the first pill...obviously a big psychological committment or something. Anyway, wondering if anyone out there has dong the HCG homeopathic diet drops while taking tamoxifen? I have done 3 rounds of HCG over the past year and have lost 53 pounds. I have muscular dystrophy, so the standard "diet & exercise" is not an option for me, as my strengtth & mobility is very limited. Prior to HCG diet I was on 2 blood pressure medications AND quite obese. I consider myself a food addict. In the past my "excuse" for not losing weight has been, "you don't NEED heroin, alcohol, etc. to survive, but you NEED food"...well the HCG drops helped me realize yes, you need food to survive, but not ALL food! I truly has changed the way I think about food and the way I eat. I feel better and healthier than I ever have. So my hope was to do one more short round on the drops after my lumpectomy (it looks like I won't be needing radiation). My only concern is I am finding it hard to find anyone who has done this while on tamoxifen. I amn thinking there must be some people out there who have done both since you have to be on the tamox. for 5 years. I know somne poeple are very against the HCG drops/diet so I'mn really not looking to get into a discussion about that; just looking for information from anyone who may have been on HCG & tamox. at same time & any input on that. Thanks!!

Hi Scrappylady, Just wondering if you've found any further information on taking the HCG with tamox?  I've just started researching it - I just purchased my first round of prescription hcg and then thought, oops, two hormones?  Do they interact?  I'm not even sure if doctors put pregnant women who have had cancer on tamox.  ???

Hi there...I used the naturopathic HCg so not sure what the differences are between that & the prescription kind. I ended up doing another short round that I just 2 days ago transitioned into phase 3. Lost 13 pounds in 22 days and had no adverse effects. I do go to my med onc tomorrow so will mention it to her in case I want to do another round. Right now its the side effects from the tamoxifen that are giving me a run for my money...extreme hot flashes, insomnia and weepiness. Let me know what you find out/decide. Are you on tamoxifen now? I've been on it for about a month.

Great for you!!  22 days?! Amazing.  I've been on the tamox now for a almost a year and the se's have lessened tremendously.  I hope the same for you.  My onc doc did a quick internest search and found no info on breast cancer, tamox, and the hcg (I told her I did the same research), so naturally she could not condone the diet and said, "There are a lot of caloric restrictive diets with well balanced meals out there."  None like the hcg diet in my opinion - and yours if I may assume. :-)

I purchased a prescription hcg and will be doing the sublingual drops, but I won't start until after May 8th.  My family and I are going on vacation before that and I won't have anywhere to keep the liquid mixture in a frig.  I'll let you know how it goes!

    Best to you.

Hope you have a great vacation!! We just got back from Vegas and while I don't want to say I "fell off the wagon"...I am dreading stepping on the scale tomorrow morning. But I know as long as I get right back on track (and maybe do another short round) and re-establish my new lifestyle of healthy eating (I prefer that to the word "diet") I will be OK to occasionally go off track as long as I get right back on. I am sure it will be hard to find any/many doctors who will say they are OK w/the HCG diet, but all I can say is if you set your mind to it and stick to the protocol, it will work and you will feel amazingly better, healthier, easier to move around, etc. Keep me posted on your success!!

    Hi there,

It has been a few months. Just wondering if your oncologist was OK with you using tamoxifen and hcg??? I gained about 20lbs after treatment (stage III) when I was 42 years old. I am quite atheletic and active, but am having a tough time getting my weight down. I have lost most of the 20 lbs gained during chemo and radiation, and have been on tamoxifen for 3 1/2 years (I am 4 years out from treatment start), but want to get down to a healthier body fat.

If you did try hcg, how did it work for you?

    Hope you are doing well!

    Thanks.

I was diagnosed in 2010. Stage 3 Double mastectomy chemo radiation the works.  I not on tamoxifen for 3.5yrs same as you and coming up on my4th yr survivor.  I gained 50lbs.  I can't lose it. I lose 20 gain it back lose 10 gain it back.  It's ridiculous.  I know my oncologist will tell me NO. Meantime she keeps telling me I have to lose weight. I went in as a size 2 now I'm a 10. I can't breathe I have the worst nerve pain from taxol. Swelling from lymphadema. With the weight loss will Def help me with the lymphadema. I'm so disgusted.  Just don't want to do anything detrimental to my treatment

In 2011 was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer with estrogen receptors. I had myself tested for the genetic BRCA 1 & 2 gene mutations, turns out I have them. My Dr said if they ever had to "wish" for a type of cancer mine would be it, because it was slow growing and had all the markers that made me a better candidate for survival. I had a double mastectomy and a tram flap reconstruction. I did 4 rounds of chemotherapy and I am on tamoxifen for 10 yrs instead of the original 5yrs my oncologist had first said I would do. I had gastric bypass surgery in 2006 because I was 280lbs and was diagnosed with hypertension. Following the gastric bypass I lost 105lbs. I was very active in keeping off the weight until 2010. I was diagnosed with a incisional hernia and following that surgery I gained 20 lbs. I was then diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff (I was very active after the initial weight loss and went snowboarding a couple times) and had surgery to repair the damage. After this surgery I gained 30 more lbs. then in 2011 I was diagnosed with my cancer. After the chemotherapy I was 210lbs and had a lot of breast revision surgeries ahead of me. Shortly after chemotherapy I went on an excursion with my husband and broke a vertebrae in my back. In 2013 I was 255lbs and was diagnosed with hypertension again and was told I had  degenerative disc disease and had to have surgery. Following this surgery I found myself at 275lbs and  I stumbled on HCG trying to find a way to take the weight off from my crazy hand that life dealt me. I used the 1234 diet drops for 40 days while taking my tamoxifen and lost 26 lbs. I realized that the drops may not have had HCG in them, so I am doing a round of HCG injections for 40 days following the protocol by Dr Simeons, while taking my tamoxifen. I will be sharing my journey via you tube. You can search for my handle hcgzonie. Feel free to email me or show your support. Good luck to all of you.

HCGZonie-I too had a hormone positive breast cancer.  I also did HCG homeopathic drops prior to my diagnosis for two years intermittenly.  I tried the shots too a few times, but liked the drops better.  I lost 64 pounds and kept it off for two years.  Last year went through all the cancer treatments.  Just finished revision surgery number one.  I have gained 20 pounds since diagnosis and am very upset by it.  The worst part is that hcg makes you really tone-arms, legs, belly, butt-and now I am flabby everywhere again.  I sooo want to go back on hcg drops.  I am torn and worry if it is safe for us hormone positive girls.  i hear mixed stories-some say hcg actually causes cancer.  others say the homeopathic is so diluted that no way can it contribute hormones to the cancer.  All I know is hcg works...and I want to go back on.  I am actually thinking about doing a tummy tuck which scares me with the recovery and scars.  Did you get okay from your dr to do the hcg?  can you share what they said if so?  I would really like to hear that it is indeed okay.

Dr. A.T.W. Simeons discovered during the 1950s that small doses of HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) given to overweight people, regardless of gender, decreased their appetite and made them lose inches specifically around their buttocks, stomach, hips and thighs. Since this discovery the HCG diet has been used to help obese individuals as well as those wanting to shed a few unwanted pounds. When HCG is taken, the body is able to tap into the abnormal stored fat and use it. If you combine HCG with a LCD (Low Calorie Diet) you will be subsisting on your stored fat than on what you are eating. You are burning 3500-4000 calories per day, which equates to losing up to 2 pounds a day by diet drops .

Any one experience some eyebrow or eyelash loss after being on Tamoxifen for about 6 weeks? All of a sudden I am seeing a few hairs coming out and it's freaking me out.......no, not this again! Tamoxifen is the only thing I can think of for this happening. Please share your experiences - thank you so much!
