Painful rash with ibc

I am receiving chemo for ibc that has spread to rib bones, lymph system and right lung. The hardest thing to deal with is the painful rash on my right breast. The pain is a level 10 but there doesn't seem to be anything to treat it with. It is a hot, burning pain that feels like air hitting exposed nerves. Does anyone have this symptom and know any relief? I can't sleep much, can't lay down at all. Try to sleep sitting up. Very difficult as rash moving to side and back area behind breast. Any insight appreciate

I'm not a doctor but I'm going to suggest you may have a neuropathic type pain which may be lessened with Gabapantin a drug frequently used for pain management of your kind, if indeed it is neuropathic pain. It requires a script but it's not a narcotic so it's easier to fill. See your oncologist and ask about this.

The only reason I know is I recently started taking this for burning pain across my upper chest where my implants are. It has helped tremendously and I don't have to take narcotics any longer. Good luck and let us know how you are.

Have you discussed the possibility of Shingles with your Dr? I've not dealt with Shingles but from what I've read about it from ones who have dealt with it and what you wrote - it sounds like it might be a possibility especially as it is 'on the move'.
