How long did you take meds for pain?

I am 2 weeks post-op from PBMX with direct implants and fat grafting. I tried to stop taking vicodin 6 days after surgery and have been trying to only take 1 valium at bedtime. BUT...I am finding the tightness along my upper pole area to be sooooo uncomfortable ....painful actually as the day goes on. I do take 3 Motrin mid-day but did anyone still feel like they needed valium more than once/day at 2 weeks out and beyond? I see my PS tomorrow but I'm just curious what others' experience has been? Feeling like a wimp right now!?!??!

Thanks!

Dawn

I had my PBMX on the 27th. Eight days ago. Not taking anything for two days already but I have TE. The pain level is 2 out of 10 at evenings but less then than that at the morning, from some reason it's the sleeping that cause the most uncomfortable. Finding the right spot. During the day I do know what cause the pain, I'm arranging everything at home, folding laundry and picking up minor kids stuff. I know I shouldn't but doing nothing drives me crazy. Right after doing it I feel more pain in the muscle. I asked my husband to arrange some movies so I'll stay in rest. I don't want to go back to the norco or Valium. If I'll have pain, resting usually makes it better. Btw. Pathology repot of the right breast came back normal. Waiting on the left side. Drains still on.

I don't think that's unusual at all. I had a PBMX with direct implants on Nov. 18, and was on the serious pain meds for about a week and the Vicodin for about 3 weeks. After that, I just took Tylenol in the evenings and sometimes during the day. That tapered off too, but it really took me about 2 months or so before I could stop that completely. You just had major surgery, so don't rush yourself. As a friend said to me at the time, these medicines exist for a reason and this is the reason. Eventually, that tight feeling really does ease up, so hang in there.
