edited February 2015 in Waiting for Test Results

I am sick with worry. My bone scan was last Friday am and the results still are t ready. My doc tells me the radiologist is very conscientious and takes his time to compare my bone scan to my past results. I am starting to think it is taking this long because something is seriously wrong, even thought the doctor said it looked fine to her, but she is not a radiologist. I need some help here, is this good or bad

Friday to Monday is not a long time to wait for report/report. Especially if 'nothing major' jumped out. For me, I've only gotten the results on all my scans/tests/biopsies 4 times in less than a week. My mammo was done at 1 that afternoon followed immediately by an US and biopsies - path report on biopsies at 8 the next morning - IBC. A few days later I had a PET which showed an area that lit up along my jaw so had a biopsy done that afternoon with report by 9 the next morning - nothing there. The next issue was about 1 1/2 yr after DX when I developed horrendous pain around and behind right eye that no pain meds would do anything for (Dex [steroid] did). I had a head MRI which showed nothing so was immediately sent up to the eye clinic it check for eye issues - again nothing wrong. 2 weeks on Dex took care of it so it was decided that for some totally unknown reason a nerve had gotten abbreviated and the Dex calmed it down (that was 4+ yrs ago and no issues since). I have had other scans/tests/biopsies throughout the years and have not gotten rapid results but none of these have been critical for immediate TX if any was indicated. None of the scans indicated any issue but the biopsies did (but totally unrelated to IBC). I am very 'light' and have spent many years outdoors, so have been dealing with precancerous skin lesions for yrs and always knew eventually some would almost likely become cancerous - they did (3 Squamous Cell Carcinoma, 1 Basal Cell Carcinoma). These have absolutely nothing to do with BC or contribute to it. So yes, I did not get these path reports the next day - no reason for hurry.

The way I look at it - no quick report, nothing needing immediate TX; quick report, no TX needed or if TX needed not immediately necessary. Just how I look at it but IF I was 'worried' I would call.

No worries, I go with it is nothing until it is something. They will call when they have the results, so no call I move along business as usual. We all have so many things to worry about and filling our heads, that I do not look for more trouble than I already have!! I hope it is all good news!!

I agree, the only time I've ever had very quick results is when there was something wrong. They will take a quick look, make sure nothing jumps out & then leave it to do a thorough look later. No news is good news. GG
