Haven't had children. In my 40's. Super stressed out and not sure I even understand what's happening. Lumpectomies? Mastectomies? Scared. Discouraged. Talk of Tamoxifen. Brings on early menopause. I'm so sorry. When I was first diagnosed in 1999 I was so angry. Not sure exactly why, but I remember I kept wheeling my office chair into the wall. So, I'll say this because this helped me--you will live for many more years. Can you do anything or go somewhere to try to divert your attention some? You won't be able to put it out of your mind, but at least you can be looking at something else. Please keep posting.

Leela, we're so sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
You've come to the right place though as the ladies here will be a reminder to you that you're not alone.
Please post here often, there is a wealth of information, compassion and love.
Sending you healing wishes,
The moderators.

Leela, sorry you had to join us here but the ladies here are wonderful.
Being angry is normal but please be gentle to yourself. When meeting with your team of doctors ask them if you can record the conversation so that you can listen it later as it is a lot of info all at once. As the moderators mentioned there is a lot of info on the forum and a lot of ladies that are going through the same thing or have gone through that will offer support.
Surround yourself with people that you love and pamper yourself.
Please post here anytime you need.
Hugs!!

Leela, I am so sorry you are here but I just want to say that I get what you're saying. I remember sitting in the ultrasound room with this doctor saying "surgery" and I was like, "What the hell are you talking about? I'm perfectly healthy and I have a meeting to get to. Surgery? What?" Who knew. Just hang on tight to the handrails and get through this ride.

I am newly diagnosed at age 37. I'm scared, confused, angry, terrified. I just wanted to say that you are not alone.
I can already see that the people on here are going to be a great support.

Leela,
I am sorry that you have to go through all of this. I am on my 14th month (and last) chemo. I wish I had found this place upfront, maybe I would have slept a little more. Whichever you have Lump or mastectomy you will be fine. I had 2 Lumpectomies and a double (by choice) Mastectomy in 6 weeks. I am 20 years older than you and you can do it too. Whichever you need I feel the most important thing of this journey is to stay positive! Take the nausea medicine if you even feel a twinge of sickness and it will steer it away. I was a lucky person and never really got sick from any medicines. Keep posting and reading and you will learn a lot without having to go through the steps. I will be watching for your posts. And remember you are not alone.
