ive been diagnosed with idc on jan 15.

My pathology report indicates the tumor has some focal necrosis. Anyone else have that.? Initial googling says it suggests higher aggressiveness of tumor.

Also i have 3 multifocal tumors. Anyone else have more than one tumor?

My masectomy is on Tuesday.

Hello and welcome. I'm sorry you find yourself here but it is such an awesome support system. Are you part of the February surgery sisters group? My October group was a lifeline for me. I had multi focal tumors as well. Three actually. They were spread apart from each other which is why mastectomy on that side was necessary. I opted for BMX. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. It really wasn't that bad and once a treatment plan is in place, you'll feel so much better. Take care of yourself

My path report says the same thing. I just got it on Friday, so I haven't seen the surgeon yet. Scheduled to see her on 2/13. From what I've read, that necrosis means there's a higher chance of recurrence in the first 5 years. Ask your surgeon. Dr. Google isn't always right. :) Best of luck to you!

Necrosis refers to rapidly dying cancer cells and can suggest aggressiveness.  However, it is very common and focal necrosis refers to a small (focal) amount.  It usually means a grade two cancer (or three), but does not have a significant impact on treatment or outcome if it remains focal.  Comedo necrosis is the more aggressive form.  I initially freaked over the definition I found on Google and then our infamous Beesie, clarified it for me.  Multi-focal will have a much greater impact on treatment options, and usually results in a mx as you are having.  Do not worry too much about the focal necrosis.
