rib fracture with Bone Scan- what did your doctor do for you?

What a week! I hurt my rib area trying to pull and old door in my basement that was jammed. The pain was awful and I felt a pop. I know I hurt my rib. The rib lit up on my yearly breast MRI, so I then went for my bone scan today. Bone scan showed two circular dots on my ribs. One from an old fracture and this new area.

The technician doing the bone scan pointed to the two areas and said that they are rib injuries and are not cancer. I am unsure what the tech knows, but I assume more than most. I then started to investigate this board about what doctors do for breast cancer patients when a rib lights up on a scan. I have read so many different situations. Some people had rib biopsies, some people had Xray, some people had CT and others just chalked it up to a rib fracture.

What have you done? I KNOW I injured the area because the rib popped for sure and I was in so much pain.

    Lola - The technician should not ever give his/her interpretation of the results.  They do not have the competence nor the authorization to do so.  A CT scan is probably the next step (according to my experience with bone mets).

    Oh Linda, I know I was very surprised to hear her whisper " thats not cancer, its a rib injury" to me as she pointed at the screen. I have known her and have had tests with her for almost 5 years now, but still I was surprised and a little relieved.

    It is all just getting to me- test after test- because I know I truly snapped the rib.

    Lola - These tests and waiting games are hard to deal with.  It's nerve wracking!  Considering your relationship with the technician, I understand.  I'm glad you're relieved and I'm also glad that they are following up on your symptoms.  It's very reassuring.
