Klanders- I'm so sorry to hear that news. I wanted to reply to you. I'm not certain this board is very active anymore. I think a lot of the original ladies are on other boards. There are a few posts above that say which ones.

klanders, I am so so sorry!! I'm not sure where to tell you to post. People are still posting occasionally on the 2014 DIEP board, and there are newbies on the 2015 DIEP board. If you can't find those, let me know and I can post the links. Don't beat yourself up over the Tamoxifen. I didn't take it either, and had a DCIS recurrence 4 years after the original dx. There's just no way of knowing if it would have prevented it. I see women posting on here that they took it and still had a recurrence. Please post again and let us know how you're doing.

klanders, so sorry that you have had a recurrence. No point in looking back.....just move forward. My MO told me that mx reduces risk of a recurrence by 90%. Unfortunately there is no 100% guarantee with this awful disease. I hope everything goes well for you from now on

    Hi all,

Question for those 2 years out from Diep flap surgery. Can you go braless and not get sagging? From all my surgeries any bra aggravates the skin under my breasts and I don't want to wear any bra. I am 4 weeks post op fro DIep flap surgery out of Nola and doing great other than my problem area under breast incision not healing well.

    Any suggestions?

How did you find the best surgeon? I am in Wisconsin/Illinois area? Looking to get a second opinion on surgery and reconstruction. I have left sided breast cancer and worried about radiation not only to breast, but to heart and lungs. Thank you.

Hi. Sorry you are having to walk this path. I went to NOLA (New Orleans) and had a bilateral mastectomy with Dr. Sullivan. Downside is they are out of network with most insurances. Upside is cosmetically they are awesome. Dr. Massey works with them but she was not available when I needed her. She still spent several hours on the phone with me on a Sunday afternoon explaining my options. AND... she has an office in Chicago. So if I were you I would start with a consultation with her: http://drmarga.com/

Regarding radiation... I just finished. I had to do it out of town so that I could utilize equipment that allows for a special breath hold technique to protect my heart. That will be very important for you. I went to the University of Michigan.

If you haven't already, check out Cancer Treatment Centers of America. I found them late in my treatment but they are pretty great. I'm switching to them for my follow up care. I like how they advise me on my supplements in addition to everything else. And it doesn't hurt that they pay my transportation to get there. I went to their facility in Zion, IL.

How were your final results with Dr. Perdikis? He performed my BMX and a diep dec 2019 and it has been a train wreck. My initial results were shocking and I have been feeling ever since. He kept promising that stage 2 would be a game changer. His office kept forgetting to schedule me so it was a year later before I finally got to stage 2 2 weeks ago and the results were not much better.

I am trying to decide if I keep letting him try or find another physician

Zoemom, did you ever find out what was causing the pain in your side?
