I don't really even know what to say. Except I am afraid. Just diagnosed with IDC, I am 64 yrs. old, and terrified. I have a breast MRI scheduled for tomorrow then an appt with my surgeon. I guess I am just hoping to get some support from anyone in the group.

    sandy...so sorry that you made your way here! Please understand that until you have a firm grasp on the type that you have and what kind of treatment awaits you is quite upsetting. That said, once you have a treatment plan in place, you will begin your journey on finding a new normal. While you wait, register at the NCCN's website and read the professional version (red logo) of the breast cancer treatment guidelines. Knowledge is power! Hang in there! We are here for you!

    hi Sandy,

    Big hugs to you. I am sorry you were diagnosed with IDC. It's really hard in the beginning when you are first diagnosed. I promise things will get better for you. I was a mess after diagnosis. Then I found out I had to do chemo and that made the diagnosis worse. I just finished chemo dec 30th and it wasn't as horrible as I thought. I start radiation tomorrow. As soon as you get all of the pieces of your diagnosis together and a treatment plan you will feel better.

    If you feel your anxiety is taking hold ask your doctor for Ativan. It really helped me calm downin those early months. Hang in there we are here for you.

    Sending warm hugs to you Sandy.  It is the worst feeling hearing those words that you have cancer.  Just know that the beginning is the hardest part.  It is not a fun journey but so many women have gotten through it and you will too.  You will find great support, friendship and comfort among the amazing women here.  Yesterday marks 4 years since my bilateral mastectomy and being cancer free.  I was petrified when I got diagnosed.  You can do this......we will be standing with you!  Hugs!
