Please help! Scary ultrasound (atypical enlarged lymph node)
I went to a dr regarding what I thought was a lump in my left armpit. Ultrasound revealed the following: "enlarged lymph node measuring 2.7x3.4cm with a central cystic area. The appearance is atypical for lympadenopathy and it could represent atypical lipoma. Atypical looking mass could represent atypical lymph node or lipoma."
What does that mean?? Anyone had similar results? What were the outcomes? (both good and bad)
He is sending me for biopsy. Also had ultrasound of the breast and other areas, results are due soon. I'm terrified.
I also have tenderness and pain in the left breast, possibly a lump? I'm 30 years old, granmda had BC. I had 2 clinical breast exams and nothing. But I do have very large breasts.

i would guess cyst and/or fat deposit. try not to worry. it is hard waiting for results

Agree with wrenn. Cystic means cyst. Lipoma means fat. I hope that's what it is.

I'm so worried. My husband is not taking this too well which adds to my anxiety. I have 2 small children too.
What worries me is also the fact that I have back pain and been having weakness in my left leg for some reason. I dread even thinking about this.

Its hard not to worry but try not to , its much more likely a cyst then something "bad" ! Hang in there and keep busy

I agree with these other ladies. Could very well be a lipoma, which is usually a benign fatty deposit. I had one in the same general area years ago. Had it surgically removed but it grew back. It does affect circulation especially around period. And sometimes, when we worry, everything flares up and seems sore! Best of luck to you and keep us posted.

Alright so I'm a bit concerned and unsettled. The US of my left breast did not show any abnormalities as the dr put it. This hasn't put my mind at ease much since I do feel something is wrong with my left breast and they are pretty big so what if they're missing something?
I went to see the surgeon today for what I thought was a biopsy of the lump that's deep in the armpit. He did physical examination of lymph nodes and my breasts and then said that a biopsy is not necessary?!. Come back in 3 months for an US to see if the lump has changed ?? This thing is more then 3 cm and makes me so uneasy to go another 3 months without knowing for sure what it is. I don't want to be pushy with the doctors but I'm very disappointed.
On top of this my abdominal US returned a "mass" in my kidney....going for a CT scan.

Does the report say anything about the "mass"? Is the 3cm thing the lipoma or cyst? I am hoping your doctors are giving more information to you than you are reporting here. If not, ask them to explain. If they are being vague (which seems like a possibility with the little information here) then i can see why it is creating drama or fear of cancer when it is not cancer. Insist on them explaining it until you understand.

hi very worried,
I'm in the Toronto area too and also have a swollen lymph node. Going in for a biopsy on Thursday. I also have a lot of pain and tenderness in the left breast. the Dr said it's probably nothing but let's biopsy it just in case.If u r that worried, you could always go to another hospital for a second opinion. I went to sunnybrook. Keep me posted!
