Swollen lymph node 4mm thick waiting for biopsy

hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum.

About 3 months ago (about 18 months after my second child was born in) Istarted having a lot of pain in my left breast (heavy, tight, tingly ) and armpit area. Ultrasound revealed that I have an enlarged lymph node (14mm). Theradiologist recommended to wait and see and do a follow up ultrasound and mammo in 3 months.

I asked my family doctor if I could see a specialist and she referred me to Dr yuen at sunnybrook. Dr yuen had another mammo and ultrasound done this month (jan 2015). The mammo was fine however the ultrasound revealed that the "thickness" of my lymph node was 4mm. She advised that they biopsy anything larger than 2.5mm.

Does anyone know what this means or how I should interpret this?

Has anyone had a similar experience where they had a swollen lymph node but all clear on the mammo?

My biopsy is scheduled for February 3rd.

    Hi,

    I know the waiting is hard but Feb 3rd is right aound the corner. The diagnostic methods they use sometimes bring more questions than really answer them. I have had clean mammos and abnormal ultrasounds and the other way around. I have also had biopsies done when my mammo was clean too. Sometimes an enlarged lymph node is normal. Being your office says they biopsy anything over 2.5mm I take it that they are going to do it anyway. I hope the test is easy and you get good news.
