Goodrhue,
Wow! Loved reading your message and how well you are doing. After all that Brava (which i can relate), you deserve it. So glad you are lovin' Dr C and staff, too.
Keep us posted and relax and rest at the beach. Glad the weather is nice for you, too. -
goodrhue~ Good to hear that you are doing so well! I'm staying in IOP too...it's really nice! Surgery tomorrow morning
-
Tamiani,
Warm get well wishes and cheers to no more implants. Hope you had time to enjoy the beautiful day today. Just finished sunset walk on beach. Perfect de-stresser along with this glass of cab at beach restaurant on Sullivans. To all the brave women who keep on keeping on through BC. Please keep us posted. 💗 -
Best wishes, Tamiami! I hope it all goes smoothly! The long wait will soon be over.
My surgery was scheduled for today but postponed to Monday because I caught the flu on the way to Oregon. I am feeling better today and was able to get out and enjoy some sunshine!
-
LAStar,
So sorry to hear you got the flu! Yay for getting out in sunshine -- healing powers for sure. Take it easy and let us know how goes from surgery on Monday. -
well I got the teva brand. I decided to try it in the morning. Got a little sick to my stomach so I started at night. I ended up with intestinal cramps so bad it was worse than my surgery. I stopped taking all my meds and went on a clear liquid diet. I think it might be diverticulitis so I called my colon doctor. Next morning it is much better but I've been off meds for three days and no solid food except oatmeal this morning. How in then world is anyone supposed to figure out what is causing problems!!!!!! Allege helps the bone pain but hurts my diverticulosis. LetrAzole helps cancer but may make me so cramp my I can't stand it. I'm clueless! Have an appt with onc for Monday. Probably try letrazole tonight and see what happens but I have a business trip for the next two weeks and can't afford to be feeling bad. I hate this diseases,
-
Lbrewer,
I hope that your onc can come up with a good individualized Rx plan for you! -
Hi all,
Has anyone had nipples created by Dr K or Dr C using skin grafts and then had tattoos done in their office?
Trying to make hard decision as to having it done by Renee or in docs office. -
Pink - I am sure that whoever does it in office is good, BUT - it is a different type of ink. Fading is a standard, from my understanding. Renee has trained with Vinnie and specializes in 3 D Tats. You have come so far, why not finish with flair. Although I know she comes to Charleston, her Florida office is worth a bit of warm weather. My original tats were done at the PS 28 years ago - you can not even find them now - faded away. Icing on the cake!~
-
Tamiami,
I hope you're recovering well - I know the nurses there are taking good care of you. Once you are released, I highly recommend the Acme Lowcountry Kitchen on IOP. My husband got takeout from there for us one night - you have to order 5-5:30 for takeout, but the succotash was WONDERFUL. Hope you have nice weather for some walks on the beach.
LAstar,
All will work for the best with your schedule - I know it will go well!
pinkheart - interested in what you and others do for nipple recon - can that be done in stage 2 or does it have to be a 3rd procedure?
I'm continuing to recover well and very happy to be back home, sleeping in my own bed.
-goodrhue
-
Marty, thanks for the reality check! Did you have nipples recon along with 3D tats?
Goodrhue, good to hear u r home and getting comfy. Been to Acme twice and great meals.
LaStar, Hope you are over the flu and more energy. Sunday looks like a nice day for touring before surgery. -
All.... I just got off phone with Renee, 3D tattoo artist. We talked over an hour! She was trained years ago by Vinnie and still tattoos in his Baltimore shop. Her studio is in Ft Lauderdale. There she charges $450 for bilateral. She goes to PS offices in NYC, Jacksonville, and CHARLESTON.
... But she is not in CHS as often as say JAX. She is in JAX one week every month. She will be in CHS the first week of March. .... So wish she worked in Dr Kline/Craigie's office! -
Thanks for your good wishes. My husband and i are nearly over the flu and feeling much better. We were able to get some food on Wed (yummy Hominy Grill) and strolled around an old neighborhood at dusk and enjoyed the lovely homes in the gas lamplight. We came back to Atlanta where our daughter is staying with my aunt and will be back in Charleston on Sunday to be at Roper at 6am Monday. I'm ready to get this over with! But I'm also enjoying hugging my daughter, picking up heavy things, and taking hot baths while I can. Xo!

Hi ladies . I have not been on here in a long time but keep you all in my heart. It is funny, there was a time when I could not live without this board and now I don't feel the obsessive need. I guess that is a good thing, moving on , but I will always feel connected. My update: This week is my 6 year cancerversary, hard to believe. My onc has decided to keep me on tamoxifen another 5 years, rather than switch me over to aromotose inhib. I am back on the 6 month mammo/ ultrasound. They are unnecessarily? Diligent about watching the fat necrosis in my sgap breast. It has been almost a year since Vinnie did my nip tattoo , and sorry to say but it has faded quite a bit. I have talked with Richie about seeing Vinnie in California in March, but have not heard back after several calls and emails. Hmmmm.. I will get it fixed someday, but it is no longer in the forefront of my mind. Could I possibly be moving on from all this cancer crap?! Wow, never thought it would happen.
Stay strong ladies, it can be a long road , but so worth it!
-
I have been talking with Renee on and off for a couple years. She has always been very responsive and helpful. She told me if done through her Jacksonville office, insurance will generally cover the fee. Jacksonville is a great city.
-
Renee also does tats at PS office in Charleston that we can go to. ...
Insurance covers from there as well.
So wish Dr Kline would ask Renee to do tats at his office so we could have the finishing touch to his amazing breast recon done with the best technique by a highly skilled professional tattoo artist. -
since it would be billed under his name it may be a liability issue. Who knows. He may also just want to stick to the knitting as my dad used to say. He is a plastic surgeon an that's what he does. Do what you're good at and let other people do what they are good at!
-
Does renee have a website for her tattoos? -
www.reneemaschinot.com
-
I'm all set for my LAST surgery on Monday, Feb. 2nd! ... I think this is SGAP #7 with Dr. Kline. It will only be two hours long and one overnight at East Cooper. And MAYBE one drain. Hoping not! Just a little fat grafting to radiated breast with incision to remove last of the bulge/scar tissue/radiation rot on IMF near axilla. ............
I also decided to schedule 3D nipple tattoos with Renee Maschinot to be done in Charleston! ....... 🎶🍸👍🎉
I love living here. 😍 -
Lbrewer,
I'm still on for meeting up with you all. If I'm not able to drive yet could you please swing by and pick me up and eat closeby? -
Hi all! I'm a little over a week post VLNT & wow!!!! My pain has pretty much disappeared & my arm is prob around 30% better already!!! I'll remeasure Friday & will know for sure about that. So far I m so happy!!!! Dr Marga is awesome. Hope everyone is well. Any VLNT advice from anyone??
-
Amoc - Wonderful news! Dr. M is the bomb. Love her.
-
Amoc,
Glad to hear you're off to a great start with your lymph node transfer and hope your LE continues to improve as your transferred lymph nodes settle into their new home.
I'm so glad I decided to "go for it," too! I don't have any advice except to enjoy your improved quality of life and to hug your doctor. 😊
-
All~
This news segment was on local news in Charleston this week. It's a story about PA Kim tattooing a patient of Dr. Craigie.
-
Great piece!!!
-
thanks PinkHeart! I'm hoping it keeps getting better & better. It's so great to see results so quick. I had my measurements done again today as I'm going back to Texas. It's been 2 weeks since surgery. I've had major decreases at all points measure. My wrist wasn't that swollen although it's bigger....that was down 1/2 cm.... As my arm increased in size diff areas those areas decreased 1.5-2.8cm so far!! Super happy. She said it should get better & better as the nodes 'settle' as u said. I'm so used to disappointment. I'm being cautiously optimistic
-
great news amoc!
I have an appt with dr k to see about the transfer. I have been very lucky that my arm only gets very heavy feeling and doesn't swell much. I feel like I am losing all the strength in it tho. I don't know how bad it has to get before the will do a transfer.
-
there was a restaurant that I liked that my husband and I went to and I can't remember the name. It was overlooking a river and had different dining on upper and lower floors. I want to go back while I'm here. Any ideas?
-
Lbrewer,
Was it on Shem Creek? Restaurants on both sides and boats at docks along both sides?
Maybe Marty will know.
