Hi everyone, I was just wondering had anyone had experience being a teenager or in their young 20s getting a lump biopsied? And what were the results ? I am currently 20 and my doctor believes it is benign Fibroadenoma but just wanted to be compleatly sure . Is this normal ? Im just worrying and I want to see if anyone else has gone through this ! Thanks

Yes it is very common, especially in young women & teens. It is very unlikely to be anything but a benign fibroadenoma. 60% of women have fibrocystic breasts

Hi I just joined this cite, and I'm 17 with 8 benign tumors and just wanted to let you know that its very common so there's nothing to worry but I know it is nerve wracking to have to go through so I understand how you feel.

    Runnergirl29,

I had a fibroadenoma removed when I was 25 (I'm 35 now).  The thing grew rapidly within a matter of about 4 months and scared me to death!  The surgery itself was quick, though I did experience a slight freak out (I was awake for the procedure) and some pain (It was down deeper than the dr thought).  Recovery was fast and I had no complications whatsoever.  I pray your doctor is correct.  Good luck!
