Im new to this site, but I'm currently 20 years old and about 6 months ago I went to my OBGYN because I felt a lump in my left breast. She told me to come back and I did a few months later and since it was still there she recommended me for a sonogram . I got one and they said they found a mass most likely a fibroadenoma but recommended a biopsy to be sure . My doctor then sent me for another opinion at a specialty breast center, who then biopsyed it and the doctor said he's almost certain it's a fibroadenoma but recommended a biopsy to be completely sure. He said it had many characteristics of being beign but the one side looked a little darker so he just wants to be sure . He told me multible times not to worry and that it'll be okay! They rated it a 4A I got a biopsy and the results should come back in a few days im just really nervous and worrying. can anyone share similar stories that it turned out being benign ? thanks in advance !

    Runnergirl29-

First, we want to welcome you to our community here at BCO. We're sorry for the worry that brings you here, but we're glad you found us.

It sounds like, from the assurances you've gotten from your doctors and the results that you've already gotten from other tests, that what you're dealing with is likely a benign fibroadenoma, which are very common in young women. Given your age, the odds of this being something else are very, very small.

We know it's hard not to worry and imagine the worst case scenario, but just remember that breast cancer in someone your age is very rare. Try to stay positive, and keep your mind focused on other things. Please keep us posted on your results!

Hello Runnergirl, the Mods are right, it is very rare, add to that the fact that the vast majority of biopsies return a benign finding and it is even less likely.

Everyone here understands just how you're feeling, the waiting for tests and results is brutal. Try to stay away from Dr Google, it can be scary and out of date. Stay here and let us know how you get on!
