My body has been messed up from the day I was born--inherited the bad genes from my dad. Legs casted up at 10 hours old and 15 years of treatment for severely clubbed feet. Had a few good years, then the bones start to shift. Now, it is very difficult to get stylish shoes that fit, and they are usually imported and $200+/pair. Bones in feet and ankles are arthritic. Shoulders had tendonitis BC. Right shoulder now triple messed up.

I look healthy but people have no idea of my pain and other issues. I will probably get strange looks when my scooter comes in. Anyone else dealing with the misconception of people? How do you handle it?

I am wintering in FL at a 55+ community. 'Older' people get a look of horror when I tell them I have 6 months to 3 years.

Dear another day, Welcome to the BCO community. It sounds like you have had more than your share of physical issues for many years. We are glad that you reached out here. We are thinking that you also may be interested in exploring the Stage IV forum as there are many topics there that also may offer support and information. Keep us posted. The Mods

I understand the misconception very well! I have something called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome along with currently waiting on biopsy results (and have spent the last few years dealing with a lot of other poop). I understand pain because I've been there a lot lately. People's reactions to seeing me in a wheel chair surprised me at first; but now I do my best not to roll my eyes. I hope you can find peace.

Take care and good night. :)
