Hi Ladies! I was wondering if anyone has felt pain in the DCIS affected breast? I certainly do. My BS says it's rare but possible.

Thanks for your input!

I didn't feel pain, it just felt odd enough to ask my primary to check it out even though I had had a regular mammo with no call back the month before. He thought he felt something. An ultrasound showed an enlarged duct. a followup ultrasound several months later showed that the enlarged duct had gotten plugged and a subsequent biopsy found DCIS. But it all started with a physical sensation that something wasn't right - so why not pain? If you have had a biopsy that can certainly be the cause of pain!!!

Thanks for sharing! My pain in the DCIS breast was there for almost 2 yrs! I went to the Nurse Practioner at Gyn. office 2 yrs ago and she palpated my breasts and said I don't feel any lumps and your mammograms are normal (I have dense breasts) She also said maybe I want to buy new bras more often. I brought it up to my Gyn. a few months later and he said it was probably due to my cycle. Yet I kept on having a nagging feeling something wasn't right with it. My pleomorphic microcalcification showed up in my mammogram in November. I didn't bruise from my stereotactic biopsy or felt pain (not any worse than before) and was trail running 5 days after it! Maybe it was my body telling me something wasn't right. Interesting.

I had what I would call "twinges" that never were part of my norm about 6 months prior to diagnosis. No one believed me...until the mammo confirmed it and even then, the radiologist said that she would be surprised if it came back as BC...SURPRISE! She said she was so sure when she saw my "cores" after my biopsy that it was going to come back benign. Until it is in the dish, no one ever knows for sure!

Hi. I felt pain regularly since 2011 worse in the left. All my mammograms were negative. I had fibrocystic and dense tissue. Both gynecologist and pcp thought nothing of it. I called a diagnostic radiologist and asked for help since no one would listen. My lumpy breasts got progressively worse and pain increased. In 2014 was diagnosed with bilateral dcis grade 3, extensive in the left. Had to have bilateral total mastectomies this past summer. Dcis was everywhere. My point being, please don't just take "your are just fibrocystic, you're fine" for an answer if you feel that there is a problem. The mri showed everything. Keep asking for testing and find a doc that listens.
