I'm 3 1/2 years out from rads and have been having some rib pain mainly when I bend over like to tie my shoes or pick up something off the floor. Don't know if it's from rads but was wondering if anyone else had experienced this. It almost feels like something "catches" but when I stand or straighten up it goes away. I also have some right side back pain but I think that may be from painting the bathroom. Next onc appointment isn't until May but I may try and get in sooner if this persists. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I'd go have it checked out asap. Pay attention to your body, if these pains a new, get them checked out.

Mamadog:  I had a mx and radiation.  I am only one year out, but I find that my muscles/ligaments in the radiated field want to tighten up if I do not stretch and work out daily.  I often get weird pains.  Unfortunately, there are long term affects of radiation and even of the surgery.  The symptoms you are experiencing may simply be that.  If the symptoms persist or worsen, I would definitely get it checked out, but also believe that rib pain is very common post surgery and radiation.  And I also believe that we will always be more susceptible to strains, injuries, etc affecting the radiated area.  Even sun affects the radiated area differently and I believe that these SE are forever.  The gift that just keeps on giving.  But these treatments that cause these troubles are also the treatments that saved our lives.  But definitely do not wait until May if you are worried as the stress is simply not worth it.  Take care.

Chest wall pain years later is not super uncommon

Sometimes people can even develop a rib fracture in the radiated area

It might be worth talking to your doctor and even getting an xray
