I have had an ultrasound that showed no significant thickening. I see Hopkins for my pregnancy and my Obgyn wasn't overly concerned. I saw a breast specialist at Hopkins (nurse practitioner but that's how they do things) and she said its hormonal no worries. She said skin is healthy and spot blanches. I was still scared so I saw her again two weeks later begging for mri or bx and she refused told me I need anxiety meds and therapy. I restarted Zoloft and still don't feel any better about this. I have 4 kids pregnant with number 5. Cannot miss an aggressive cancer. When I pinch the skin in that area its thicker than my other breast but not to look at or run your finger across. I have had a lumpectomy on that side 14 years ago and that breast hss neber been the a same.

my husband called my OB and said we can't rest easy and they said they have zero concerns for Ibc and would not hear offering additional testing either. They trust their breast center. I did make an appt in philly with dr c for Tuesday but gosh I'm so scared. Did anyone have sxs for 8 weeks but they didn't get worse? I really really obviously want this to be nothing but have read so many horror stories online. Tuesday can't come fast enough. I'm the meantime I just wondered if you all would trust hopkins.

I should add the spot I'm talking about is right below the broken blood vessel looking spot. It's almost triangular and this is the best it looks. Sometimes it looks very pink. It changes color with time of day heat etc. the breast specialist said that's because it's hormones and not cancer. Cancer wouldn't blanch or wax and Wayne

Dear Momtob5, We are so sorry that you are dealing with such worry and concern especially during your pregnancy.Members are not able to diagnose problems from photos and for your own protection too, we remove such photos and therefore we removed your photo. We are glad you are seeking additional medical opinion as perhaps that will ease your mind. Remember that IBC is a very rare cancer. Internet searches around any new breast change or symptom will often lead to more worry. We hope that you will receive some additional reassurance here and we hope that you will find some ways to ease your mind. For now try to stay away from additional google searches. Keep us posted on what you learn at your appointment. Let us know by sending us a PM if you are still struggling with unblocking your topics. The Mods

ok sorry about the picture. Should I trust the breast specialist? She made it very clear in all her notes this couldn't be Ibc but said things that I didn't think were necessarily true from reading on here and other places. Is Hopkins a good place for Ibc?

Dear Momtobe5, No worries about the photos. We are trying to protect your privacy. Perhaps others who have had experience with Johns Hopkins will respond here. It sounds like you are having another opinion in Philly. You can also confirm the reputation of Hopkins and your team when you seek that opinion. You mentioned that you have had a lumpectomy in the past. We are wondering if your history with either a malignant or benign condition in the past is contributing to your worry? Here is some information on our site about Seeking a second opinion. You may want to check it out for some reassurance. Let us know how things work out for you. We are thinking of you and hoping for your mind to ease. The Mods

it was benign. I regret having the lumpectomy but was 19 at the time and the drs found the lump and decided to remove it based on size. The scar is horizontal at the top of my breast and has caused that breast to look bigger (but less dense) and constantly have issues with breast feeding because they cut across so many ducts. That surgery isn't contributing to my worry. My worry comes just from what I have read and the spot not getting better. 😕 I really hope it's just irrational pregnancy stuff but I can't think of any other thing I have had quite this reaction of fear to

I guess I should feel good that Hopkins is listed in your second opinion link. I guess I didn't get a good answer for what this spot actually IS and didn't like that they refused further testing. My ultrasound wasn't done by the breast center but general ultrasound people but at Hopkins still.

    Hi Momtobe5,

I went to grad school at Hopkins and am pretty familiar with it. Hopkins carries the highest NCI rating and is one of only fourteen Cancer centers to be rated that highly. I don't understand why you're not getting a better response from them. If nothing else, you should have been offered a 3D mammo which can pick up IBC.

Bon has great suggestion, Mercy is part of the Hopkins system, so the level of care should be excellent.

I hope you have nothing serious going on, please keep us posted and know our thoughts are with you.

bride, that's good to know. They won't do a mammogram because I'm pregnant and they don't think I have Ibc i guess. Hopefully that means they are totally right and I'm being rediculously anxious. I see Dr. C in philly tomorrow. I'm pretty nervous but optimistic that Hopkins wouldn't miss this. I will definitely come back and let you all know either way.

It seems that reading on the internet (including BCO) has increased your anxiety by referring you to an "oncologist" when I reputable centre has told you that you don't have cancer. I think for the sake of your pregnancy it would help to trust the people who have seen you in person and move away from the monitor. :-) I think some relaxation techniques or talking to someone about your inability to trust your team of doctors will be more helpful in the long run than continuing to pursue this. I wish you comfort.

thanks Bon. I hope Wrenn is right but I need to know. I'm so nervous. I should be sleeping but am not. I know Hopkins is good but they aren't perfect. I never saw a physician at the breast center only an NP. The breast center also didn't do my imaging. If both those things happened I probably could relax. I'm def not out for an IBC dx. I am not even thinking I have it just need to be assured I do not.
