Can anyone help??
hi I'm a 31 yr old with only grandmother as history. I started with breast fullness and sharp pain last march, no lump felt. 4 months ago I found a round smooth lump about the size of a pea, near to nipple area. Ref to breast clinic by Gp, examined and told unlikely to be a cyst or fibromidema as didn't feel like one. Ultrasound done, radiography said it's not a cyst and doesn't look like a fibromidema either, but doesn't look like cancer. Biopsy taken, had results yesterday, but showed nothing so inconclusive. Consultant said this sometimes happens, and said to remove the lump and send away for testing. He said I will be seen within 4 to 6 weeks. Should I get a second opinion? Why does my biopsy report ashow nothing?
Thanks Zoe uk xx

Sounds like a situation where a second opinion may be useful. What is the plan in 4-6 weeks? Just to visit the doctor again, or have the lump removed?

the plan in 4 - 6 weeks is to remove the lump

Zoe, I had a similar situation. My biopsy came back as normal fibrous breast tissue, but my doctor felt that was discordant with other symptoms I had. My next step was a surgical excision, where they removed the entire lump. Fortunately the pathology confirmed the original benign findings, but waiting for the results was horrible.
Fingers crossed for speedy, benign results for you.
Take care

this might be a good time to get a second option while you wait for your appointment. I personally wouldn't want to wait that long for a biopsy. You have to go with your gut if it's bothering you go see someone else's.its your body.

Peaceof mind goes a long way. Ask anyone on this site waiting and not knowing is aweful

thanks all, I'm not sure what my pathology report shows, consultant just said sometimes they come back inconclusive

Hello,
Sorry you are in the "wait and see" mode....the waiting is so difficult. I would also get a second opinion; have done this several times for various things and have never regretted it. I have two thoughts: ask why they are waiting 4-6 weeks to do the biopsy and 2) you should request a copy of your pathology report (whether you get a 2nd opinion or not)
Take care.

many thanks for al your lovely comments. He seems to think it's prob not cancer, but how does he really know, and he can't give me an answer of what it actually is.. Just said it might be breast tissue that has formed together.
