I was diagnosed with having a bi rad 2. In my left breast( iI'm a mom of 2 boys 5 and 3. I breast fed but had trouble producing on left). I just also had a total abdominal hysterectomy almost 2 months ago and my breast is hurting bad . Like it is a shooting type n ofor pain. Help me n please if u have had something like this

    Hi Mama,

    See below, a description of Birad 2, as found on this website.  It just means that they found something, but it appears to be benign. You asked if others had this category on mammography or other screening.  I have had a Birads 2 on all of my follow-up mammos and MRI's.  It just means that they see abnormalities that they aren't concerned about.  Maybe they will follow you a little more closely.  A Birad 2 is not an indication of cancer or even of high risk for cancer. 

    "Birad 2Benign (noncancerous) finding: means that there has been a finding, such as benign calcifications or fibroadenoma, which is not cancerous."

    I also just had a mammogram with bi rads 2. I figure that if they would have had any doubt they would have called me for more views/testing. I think sometimes our minds drive us crazy over thinking#

    A Birad of any number is not a diagnosis but rather a classification. A Birad 2 is a definite benign finding.

    Please understand, as stated above, that a BI-RADS or BIRADS score is NOT a diagnosis but merely a radiologist's system to categorize their findings and create a follow-up action plan. It is merely and indicator as to what further tests, if any, are required to then allow a doctor to determine a diagnosis. It is a USA system that is only used in a few countries other than the USA, so don't worry if you don't have a BI-RADS score.
