Badger - I hope all is well with you. I was re-visiting my writing from that tumultous time in my life and came across my post again. I am here to report there is life after - after all of this. It's been 3.5 years since my initial diagnosis. I can wear my hair in a pony tail. My eyebrows are mostly filled in - though not as thick as before which only saves me money on waxing! I go to work and feel like a woman. I've lost nearly 70 pounds - some of which I gained during treatment. I still struggle with fear. Every 6 months when I go for my mamogram I worry they are taking too long to tell me to get dressed and all is well. Last time I heard another woman getting what sounded like "its not good news" which broke my heart. It happens every day. Every day someone is faced with this challenge for the first time. I'm grateful for the network of survivors who helped me through the worst of my emotional feelings about being diagnosed with breast cancer. Thank you to every one who is reading this - YOU helped. YOU are helping.

hi Cindy, happy to hear from you!  Glad you're doing well.

I'm OK too.  See my onc next week for a follow-up visit.

Have lost 30 lbs (wow to your 70!) and kept my hair short.

((hugs)) to all the newly-diagnosed, it's such a scary time.

Love your poems Cindy! Your first poem I could really relate to. I had my first mammogram on February 8,13 only because I turned 40. The tech comes in to get me in waiting room says we need to do a ultrasound. After that we need to do biopsies all done in the same day.I was completely blown away. Then 4 days later the dredded call I'm sorry but you have cancer!

Hey Red, yes nearly five years since I got the not-good news.

Just re-read this thread and the poems have lost none of their power.   ((hugs)) to you, and our poet-sister Cindy, and all the newly diagnosed. ♥
