FINDS A DAMN CURE FOR CANCER
-
Ditto on the cure for cancer!
Happy New Year everyone!
Ducky - you look like you were flying the plane! That's quite an improvement - you went from being afraid to fly to sitting in the cockpit!
Well, both kids are still in school for the time being - both could have done better. Hope they are still learning lessons...
DD has a new boyfriend. A freshman - lol. In high school, when she was a sophomore, her best friend started dating a freshman. (they are still together) DD was upset with her - I guess she was an ageist - didn't think a girl should date a younger guy. So, ironically, last yea, DD dated a guy a year younger than herself and now she's dating a guy 2 years younger. She's is eating all her words toward her bff back in high school. She won't date any younger though. she will not date someone younger than her brother - I guess that is the cut off - lol.
but shhh - don't say anything about this boy being her boyfriend. She had been hanging out with 3 guys - she likes video games and some nerdy stuff so she gets along with guys. All the guys in her life have asked her out - her ballroom dance partner and the 3 video game guys (from the trumpet section). She got mad at them when one of them tried to make it a competition. She was pissed they were treating her like a prize. Anyway - she told them all she would not date them. But ended up liking one enough to want to date him. So she is dating him on the qt.
His family seems to really like her. She has only known him since August... She seems to be part of the family already...
His father had been saying to his son that he couldn't believe he got a girl like DD. LOL DD cleans up nice.
Now if DD could just do better in school... I keep telling her she can't take forever to get a degree - don't have enough money for that...
And DS was all happy the other night that he didn't "flunk out." I was surprised he felt that was a possibility. Though he did drop chemistry... grrrr. And got a D+ in precalc so now he has to retake it before he can take Calculus for Engineering students. What is wrong with these kids? I think they really could do better... Argh.
Yes - I'm still at CVS (so with that wage, there won't be more money for extra years in college...
Stressful - really not a good job for me. I really need a job where I can hide in a corner and do my work. Not one dealing with angry customers. Not that they are all angry - but I don't do conflict well.
Still tired all the time. Ironically, when I had bloodwork recently, it showed my iron is high. Weird. Well, it's probably not as high now (TMI) since this is the 4th week my period has dribbled on. Beginning menopause or something wrong? Hmmmmm.
Have an appt with pcp on Tuesday. Can discuss meds and potential for menopause then. Should see ob/gyn too I suppose. Been slacking on med appts with my always-changing work hours.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year!

(((TOL)))Happy New Year
Chris, glad your kids are moving along in school...but hard to explain their struggles with grades ??
Repeating courses is expensive! I do have a lot of students at my college who came from universities and had to take a break or make up courses they failed or dropped. About half eventually go back to their schools and the rest just stick with the community college and re-set their goals.
I hope it works out for all of you.Sheila, FK, Ducky, Blondie, wishing all the best for you and your families. (peace, love, health ... oh, and a million bucks for each of us.)
-
My grandson that I went to visit in Chicago told us he is going for his Master's.......he is starting at Northwestern University on Monday night.......he graduated from Carnagie Mellon University and went to work for JP Morgan Chase....he is a financial advisor to the "rich and famous"......he is concerned about going back....says he forgot a lot......LOL....he always stressed over his grades.......he quarterbacked his college football team to a Championship along with carrying a GPA of 4.0.....at least he doesn't have "football".......
His wife is a sales rep for a Major Pharma Co..........She is presenting a new "cancer drug" to her Oncologists..........should be interesting........will keep you informed.
Still feeling like crap even with a flu shot me, my SIL, Daughter, and now Grandson some type of flu.....they caled it Type C...............cough, fever, aches, chills, runny nose, the whole gambit, but nothing like the "real flu".........the first couple days are the hardest.......then it is more a wicked cough, and a head cold..........oh well this too shall pass......right......
Hope your all feeling good, and we all have a better 2015...........making my "to do list"..........which of course will sit next to the undone 2014 list............LOL.........
-
Ducky feel better
Joan u r so awesome esome
Chris long time no see
-
Ok, FYI............after my SIL was tested by his infetious disease Dr.........with a nose swab....it came by positve for TYPE A Flu....................Dr. said tell your wife, MIL, and son to get to a Dr. right away........
They did and got Tamiflu.....was too late for me.....I was past the 48 hour time limit for treating it.....so I have to tough it out.............at least its not full blown.
However after 20 years of Flu shots, and never getting sick, this was a surprise............according to what I'm reading........the CDC screwed up this year........and I think they know it.............they say we have an epidemic of flu.............many of thepeople who have it were "like me" also vaccinated with the Flu shot...........
Problem is.......unless your Dr. tests your for the Flu........even when you have the shot and get sick......you will never know that you had it........my Grandson 30 in Chicago (where we were) got sick too and went to he Dr..........he tested positive for Type A Flu also after his Dr. did a nose swab............he hadgot the vaccine back in October................
-
So sorry to hear you are sick, Ducky. I hope it goes away quickly.
I hope your grandson settles in to class quickly. I know he will do fine and I'm sure he'll get back into the groove of school right away.
Hi Sandy - how are you doing?
Thanks for the million bucks, Joan! I'll be needing it to try to educate my kids!
-
Christ.....thanks.....a bit better today, but the cough is brutal....hurts like hell inthe throat and chest. and I also have ASthma which makes it worse.
Talked to my grandson today....he feels no better and has taken the Tamiflu........his wie is very sick now...vomiting (which we did not do),, fever, body aches, so she is the next victim............
Worst thingis your contagious from 1 day before symptoms appear till 5 days after you have them, so you can be infecting people while your feeling great..........that is why it spreads so bad.............
Hope you all who got the shot don't get this strain.........only good thing is by getting some type of the flu vaccine the flu we got was a mild case.......so there is a bright side...............
LOL.......could not have told us that when we got sick.........it was so unexpected.........LOL.....we were getting hit like ducks at "duck season".................glad I'm on the backside of it now......if only the cough would go away, but I heard that stays for a while...........
Probably going to the Dr. Monday.......don't know why..........uness he gives me something for the lung problem fearing pneumonia .............oh boy..........
-
awwww Ducky
I'm sooo sorry

Hope you are feeling better, Ducky and the doctor had something to give for the cough.
My son has a cold of some sort. I feel like I'm coming down with something now... Working in a pharmacy, I'm exposed to a lot... I have my hand sanitizer I use a lot, but it's hard to avoid everything. I have Friday and Saturday off - so if I am getting something, I hope I can be getting better enough to work by the time I have to go back to work... DS's formal Eagle Scout Court of Honor is this Saturday. DH is doing all the planning for that - being the Scoutmaster and all, he 's been through a few. And we have a communication problem, so I've stopped trying to help him with things. He doesn't tell me everything I want to know about what I'm helping with so I can help - so I've stopped trying to help. So I will just help set up Friday night... I don't even know what I'm going to wear. I don't have much that fits. I gained more weight over the summer, so half of what I own is tight now or doesn't fit anymore and I DON'T want to buy a bigger size. We wear scrub shirts to work and I rotate through 4 pairs of pants... so sad.
I think I'm going to have to have my mouth wired shut to lose this weight. Ugh.
I hope everyone else is doing well.
((((((TOL))))))

Hi Chris,
Wow, that's a big darn deal....Eagle Scout! What was his project? Sorry you felt left out...sometimes we are just the supportive moms in the background...I hope it all went well.
I know what you mean about weight. I lost 30 last year and gained back about 18. I had a few of the old clothes in a larger size but I am not happy. I work hard to look nice for work. I can look great from the front...but the side view tells all.
I cannot seem to get off comfort foods right now.
I've been feeling pretty badly with sinus/ear/throat thing. I eat whatever makes me feel better.
You brought up a major issue I have with CVS and any pharmacy...when I pay for my prescription, I have to use the credit card machine to sign off on the drugs and to pay. I realized that every sick person has had that pen in their hands all day long. There should be a better way to do it...and the hand sanitizer should be right next to the machine to use before and after. Yes, you are exposed to the worst...the acutely ill. I have picked up my drugs some times when I was at the worst point in my cold or flu.I miss y'all, TOL.
This thread was the best....glad to see some of you on FB.
Hugs for the new year.Joan
