Did anyone have DIEP and had young kids?

I am looking at a double mastectomy in the next month, and I have 2 young kids ages 3 and 5 that love to climb all over me and the 3 year old needs to be lifted sometimes. I'm really interested in doing the DIEP procedure, but I'm concerned about the long recovery time and it's affect on my kids. I'm not sure if I should just do implants so I can be back on my feet faster for them. So looking for any stories from others that have done this with young kids. Thanks

Nicole - post your question on the DIEP 2014 thread. You will find plenty of moms there. Implants have lots of potential problems, too. They are rarely a one and done kind of thing. Although DIEP has a longer initial recovery period, it can be a better long term option. With careful planning, a bit of kid training and some help, DIEP should be doable. It is a short term effect on the kids not a lifetime thing. Good luck
