Test result Birads 3 .. very young, genetics
Hi everyone, this is my first time in a forum, first post, first test and everything..
I went to the doctor with a complaint about a palpable node on my right breast in the upper position (around 11:00) and he decided to do an ultrasound in his office since he had the equipment.. He is an ob/gyn but I'm assuming he has some experience in breast ultrasounds, and he looked at it and said he found a cyst, even showed me the image, and told me not to worry that it would go away on its own, I was in my pre menstrual days and all.
I do not take hormones or pills anymore for six months now. I'm 27 years old and my mom had breast cancer twice, once in her 30s (31) and then at 52. She never did the genetic tests and neither have I (for now) but I want to.
Well, after about a month and a half I had another appointment to check the cyst and he said it was a lot smaller (from 1.6cm to 0.6mm). Two weeks later I started to feel a dense tissue where the cyst was, and could no longer feel the cyst.
I always had this other area near the 9:00 position that was kind of sore and lumpy but he didn't seem to worry about that. Since I'm a very anxious person and with all that family history, I went for a second opinion to get everything checked.
The other doctor said I was too young to get a decent mammogram and asked for a breast MRI and ultrasound to check the dense area near the cyst.
Well I went in last Wednesday and got the test results birads 3, an oval shaped mass (nodule) it's not perfectly oval it kind of has a head in it (I'm sorry for my incorrect terminology!) .. This was found in both tests at 8:00 on the right breast, near the lumpy area I always felt and there was nothing near the cyst at 11:00 not even the cyst was there anymore.
So I got really freaked out bcs this has 1.1 cm and it's been there for longer but I guess I didn't pay attention and neither did the doctor... Maybe this is a good thing?
But I'm freaking out obviously ... I have an appointment again on Tuesday to take the results to the doctor and see what he suggests...
Did anyone else experience this so young? And do birads 3 look funny? I hope they can look like that and still be nothing to worry....
Thanks everyone who reads this it means a lot

hi
I am 29 and starts having lumps since 27. At the beginning 1, than 3 and now 7. Still in the process of checking. Good luck !
Ps please note that MRI is a very good tool to check breasts, birads 3 is very often b9 but be careful as your mum has bc so young

Hi 94tricia, and welcome to BC.org.
Every change in your breast should be checked, especially after your mom's experiences with breast cancer, so we think you're wise for being responsible!
Until you get your results, the main Breastcancer.org site has useful information that may reassure you, in the article What Mammograms Show: Calcifications, Cysts, Fibroadenomas. As it says there, fibroadenomas, are the most common type of breast mass, especially in young women.
Let us know how it goes!
