Having alot of problems after 3 or 4 infusions...Help?

Options

I've had 3 of 4 infusions, last one being 2 weeks ago. I have suffered with a low grade fever for a week, my oxygen drops to the 80's on room air, low blood pressure. I've had to go in 3 times for IV fluids in the last 2 weeks. I wear O2 at nite, so luckily, I have O2 at home. My fever started a week ago today, saw my doc on Monday, lots of blood work, cultures, chest xray. Nothing found. Been on Levaquin (broad spectrum antibiotic) for 5 days. Still have fever and all the symptoms listed above. Doc sent me to ER on 2 days ago. More blood work, cultures, chest xray and ct scan of chest looking for pulmonary embolism as the possible cause of the low O2. Chest xray showed some "fuzziness" in my upper lung lobes, doc at ER diagnosed me with "atypical pnuemonia". CT scan normal. Stay on antibiotics and O2 at home, should get better. But I'm not better! Had fever and chills last nite at 10 and again at 7 this morning. Little fever this afternoon. Plus, i have a horrible dry cough that is just bone racking!! I'm just stuck at home and chained to the O2 and recliner with dizziness and some disorientation. Doc says that most of this could just be "chemo related". My last infusion in Dec 26. My sister, who is the office manager of a cancer clinic, thinks I should forego the last treatment. I am so sick of being sick. Any suggestions??

I would talk to your oncologist to see what they recommend. They might have you forego the last treatment or decrease the amount. The risk of continuing might not be worth it so they will decide what kind of risk it is. Make sure you mention everything and have reports from emerg (if the onc hasn't go them already. Hoping this is resolved for you soon. :-(

Thanks for your input Wrenn. I will definately do that. I have an appt with nurse practitioner on Wed, but I think I'll try to change it to my onco for Tuesday. I didn't mention that 2 days after my surgery on Aug 26, my organs shut down and I nearly died. Maybe I should've waited a few more weeks after that episode to start chemo....maybe my body was not recovered enough.
