Ohhh, I need one of those. I just hate crawling completely into the cabinet.

I want one too. I have a double deck lazy susan cabinet on the bottom of the deepest corner but this is fantastic.

I've considered moving my stove to the short wall that has cabinets and putting the cabinets where the stove is now. The refrigerator would probably work better farther away from the stove. The kitchen is U shaped with a table and chairs at the open end. Also very small.

I would like to replace the cabinets with Ikea. These are from the 70's and the shelves are not adjustable. They aren't constructed in a way that drawers could be installed. What I will probably do is paint them and leave the rest alone. I can't afford a remodel and the walls are plaster, so removing them and having anything left in the way of a wall might not be possible.

I'm gifting my nieces & nephews with Christmas ornaments from my past history & trees. They're excited and I'm glad the ornaments are going to a good home.

Sorry if I've written this here before (head injury!!!!) but when I was in my 30's, my mom started including one "heirloom" gift (added to her other gifts) to me on each birthday and Christmas.

She would write up a little note, like "These unusual bowls were brought back from Korea after the war, by your uncle, as a gift for your Nana. Her favorite color was red, so that is what he brought her."

I got so many family treasures that way, along with the stories of how they came to be.

Now I wish I had kids to pass everything down to.... and the nieces and nephews don't seem to have any appreciation for the things I have.

    Sad.

Blessings - my Mother did much the same. And the things she hadn't already passed along before she died were each marked on the bottom with a piece of paper that said who was to get it and why it was meaningful. I have much of it here. Some if it is truly - dare I say it? - ugly. Nothing is worth much except for the sentiment. My one son has no interest in any of it. My brother's one son has even less interest & only calls his Dad when he needs money. It's hard to get rid of things that I know meant so much to my grandmother & greatgrandmother, but...

Wrenn, I replaced my 50 year old kitchen with IKEA. I plastered some lumpy bits myself and will NEVER do that again even if I felt up to it. I did everything except the electrics, plumbing, a window that needed replacing and the counter around the sink myself and the IKEA cabinets are a breeze to put up. Having said that I could not do it now, not strong or fit enough. I think my regular handyman who is very good was horrified but those cabinets are still hanging on the plaster walls 8 years later with only a couple of the doors getting a little droopy!

I am way behind but battling a bad case of vertigo that will not let up. Hanging on to walls and spinning. I did however declutter 2/3 of my winter clothes now that no longer fit or are ugly. Tossed 5 coats too. My closet is really small. Next winter I will be in SanDiego at a friends and I love the clothes out in Ca so I am going to wait till then to get new ones. Even sweats are brighter out there. I am going to do the same to my summer stuff too.

    Will check in soon.

So sorry to hear about the vertigo. Great work on the wardrobe thinning. I would wait to get clothes in Calif. too. Even the colors are different.

Wren - I know. I can not find any cute sweat shirts here in Mi. Everything seems so dull like the weather. I also love white sweatpants, jackets etc and here they believe that old saying about no white after Labor Day. Good grief. They love brown, beigh, navy and black here. Makes me depressed if I get too much of that. I now have 3 pairs of jeans and 6 sweatshirts. I started out with 15 pair of jeans and about 30 sweatshirts. I am feeling good about all that stuff going away. I never wear it...just keep grabbing the same stuff. I had 7 robes. I used to collect them at hotels when I would travel for work. How many white long robes do you need?

    Good job Bunkie!

I need some motivation to get my pantry and kitchen cleaned out. There is no space to put the holiday food. We are not decorating or exchanging presents. However, the doxies will get their stockings. I did not want to cook, but there is a slight chance of snow, so I do not want to be stuck on Christmas with no comfort food.

So I had better get my behind in gear ASAP.

I actually went through the kitchen cupboards this afternoon and pulled out all the items I no longer plan to eat or cook with - not to mention all the things out of date since I didn't eat for the year of chemo. Things that were still good already given away. Old things down the disposal and the bottles & cans washed & out for re-cycle.

    Happy New Year everyone.

I made such progress--My friend didn't feel up to throwing her usual New Year's Eve party so I volunteered. Got the dining room table completely cleared off, and the buffet, and the coffee table, and the kitchen counter.  I feel so victorious, and, frankly, it wasn't such a big deal.  New Year's resolution is to entertain (and organize) at least quarterly.

I will confess that most of the flotsam and jetsam wound up piled in my office.  Piled.
