Thoughts on what this could be?

I had a lumpectomy at the end of June. I have one incision line for both the lumpie and SNB. A few days ago I noticed what feels like a vein in my armpit on lumpie side (maybe an inch and a half long and thin). It wasn't there before or if it was I never noticed it and I check all the time now. I had an ultrasound on the bad boob the Monday before Thanksgiving and everything was fine. I don't have this in the other armpit. Any ideas? I see MO on Tuesday so I will ask even though I feel like I have turned into a hypochondriac when I never was before ugh

Perhaps this is cording. I didn't have it myself, but I've read about it. I don't think it is serious and is a matter of physical therapy.

I thought maybe that's what it could be too but it doesn't hurt so I am a bit baffled.

I didn't know that cording hurt. Still, everything else you describes sounds like cording and doesn't sound like cancer.

or it is the interior scar, sometimes it runs across the skin scar. Is it pulling the skin taught? check the search function, i think they have drawings

Nancy - did you have a drain for your lumpectomy? Could it be scar tissue from that? I had to have PT to help break up my scars from my drains.

hi BayouBabe - no I didn't have any drains for my lumpectomy. I guess I will just ask my onc on Tuesday. Why oh why does stuff like this have to pop up sheesh

Hi Nancy,

In the nine months since my surgery I can't tell you how many times something changed or appeared on my chest. In the early months I had so many doctor appointments that there was always someone willing to look at my boob for me and it was typically nothing. I'm sure whatever you've got going on is "normal" healing. Good you are seeing the onc on Tuesday, I'm sure you will get an answer!

thanks Jen. I swear before BC this never would have bothered me. My onc already had me do an ultrasound because I was having odd pains and felt something on my ribs close to the lumpectomy site. She said she didn't feel anything but possibly cartilage. She ordered an ultrasound and a chest X-ray to make me feel better. At least she is compassionate lol.

just wanted to mention that my MO said it is cording. Lucky me - thankful it doesn't hurt.
