Hello!

I am scheduled for the lift and implant surgery on February 24 - just noticed that on February 24 last year I was having a lumpectomy!  Mama mia!

Anyone have any experience with the lift procedure?  The goal is to reposition the breasts with the lift to fix how they look from the surgeries and rads (left breast is turned down and lower); it will correct the pendulous (I didn't know there was a "name" for my type of breast shape!) and then a larger implant on the left and a smaller one on the right.  Follow up with PS is on January 6 - I have my list of questions ready for him but any input from all of you is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Donna

    Hi Dogs Smile

I'm excited for you - sounds weird, but I know when I went through recon I was excited to move forward and see results each time (ive had quite a few surgeries.)  I had a UMX, and had a lift/implant on the natural side to try and match the implant/alloderm on the MX side. My natural breast was rather large and "pendulous" from 2 kids etc.  I had the keyhole type procedure.  I did have to have it redone because the fold underneath loosened up (I think I may have been too aggressive on my return to working out )  I remember being very sore and swollen, and obviously having to take it very easy since they are pulling the skin very tight and those incisions are bearing a lot of strain - especially when the swelling is at its peak.  Its amazing what the difference is though, now that all is healed.  The scars aren't too bad, and the symmetry with my MX side is great, so I don't regret the scarring at all.  Just do what your Dr says - even if you feel fine (like I did) if he says to take it easy - - take it easy!   I am a little over a year out from my last "fix" to that natural side, and everything is great.  Looks and feels good, scars have faded, and I have been back to working out hard (I crossfit!) for about 8 months now.  It doesn't bother me at all when I do anything - pushups, pullups, heavy weight-lifting, running, etc.

    Best of luck to you!

Dogsneverlie: Err on the larger side. Don't go too small, anddon't let him get too aggressive with the mastopexy.

just had my exchange and mastopexy today and so far, no pain. Slight burning feeling on the natural side, mastectomy side, no pain at all and no discomfort so far in the area used for fat grafting, which is on my sides, right about where your bra goes. I dreaded this so bad but so far, so good. Can't tell what it all looks like, all bandaged up but pain wise, feeling fine.

the surgery was fine, not painful at all but I am having the most terrible time with my back, right around my shoulder blade,, about where your bra comes. Its a place they took some fat for the grafting and it has a big, hard, lump that just won't let go. I wasn't put in compression garments and really, not sure there is one that would get this area. I had to return to doctor 4 days after surgery so he could check blood flow and all on the lift side and I told him it was hurting but he just said keep these little pad looking things in that part of my bra. None of the incisions has bothered me at all, no pain with the lift, exchange side, no pain. I had heard people talk about all those incisions being a problem but I have had no issues with those at all, just this one place from the lipo.

Oh man, I hope you are feeling better. I have read that women have back issues during recovery due to the way they need to sleep, etc while they are healing but sounds like yours is from the FG. That seems like a tough spot for FG - your front hurts AND your back hurts!

    Mama mia!

its either feeling better or I'm getting used to it but the lump is still there. Its not really my back, its right under my right shoulder blade, so I figure sleeping on my back is compression. I guess as long as the incisions all heal, I'll just live with it. I've been off work since having it done, so next week will tell the tale. I am glad that at least they match up now, as opposed to the real one being what looked to me 2 inches lower than the TE side.

YAY! Great news on them matching up better now. I have read that one can "drop and fluff" quicker than the other. I am anticipating that will happen with me just not sure which will drop first....the radiated side due to tissue or the healthy side!

    It's all a mystery..............!!!!!!

ps said the implant side was swollen and would drop. The natural side with the life it just weird to me. Seems so odd to look down and the nipple is just right there now, as opposed to looking down and seeing just smooth skin. I found online the place thats hurting is actually called the flank, even though to me a flank seems like near your leg, but online, it shows flank in that bra area on the back. Otherwise, eveything else doing pretty well.
