hi, I have finished chemo (TC) at the end of AUgust. Am since then on Herceptin alone. mi wbc had been improving but my last wbc was 1.9. called the nurse and she says it might still be fluctuating because of chemo and that there was nothing needed to be done as long as it stayed above 1.0

is there anything that I can eat that will help increase wbc? if they keep decreasing , will they stop Herceptin?

anyone that can share same experience?

    thanks

I finshed 4AC in February 2007, a year of herceptin in February 2008.

It took a long time for my WBC counts to come up into the bottom of the normal range. My counts were suppressed during the whole year of herceptin and only slowly crept up within low normal range in the year following the end of herceptin.

My WBC counts would also fluctuate, sometimes dropping below normal range before creeping back up. My oncologist and primary care MD both said that was typical for someone who had had chemotherapy.

It was about 4 years after the end of the herceptin (5 for the chemo) that the WBC count rose to the mid normal range.

The interesting thing was the fact that my immune system seem able to cope just fine. I was healthy and did not become ill during the whole time period of low WBC.
