Can anyone give me your take on U of M?
As I wait for results, I have contacted U of M and have decided to go there, I called this morning and they will get all of my results so far from the doctors and schedule me an appointment tomorrow. I'm more relieved now I think??? Has anyone gone there and if so can you give me some insite and your experience? Thank you

Hi Mary
My sister in law is a CRNA their and they have a great staff. My mother in law is a 2 time breast cancer survivor (first diagnosed 13 years ago on one breast, then 2 years ago diagnosed on other breast) - she is in remission again! She went to U of M. I can find out what her dr's name is if you would like.

I had an amazing breast surgeon, their mammogram techs are top notch and so caring. Currently in process of delayed reconstruction and chose to complete at U of M as I have not one bad experience since going there

I went to U of M when I lived in MI. I was dx at Karmanos but was not happy there. I went to U of M and did the breast cancer clinic (an all day program where all pathology is reviewed, mammogram is done again, U/S was done again, some meetings and then doctor appointments with surgeon and plastic surgeon - also they presented my case at tumor board the same day). I had my BMX and reconstruction done there. My surgeons were excellent! I was very happy with the surgeons. I met with the oncologist and did not like her at all so I chose to get treated somewhere else for chemo and follow up care (I ended up at Beaumont Royal Oak). I was happy with that and that was much closer to my home at the time. I highly recommend the surgeons at U of M. If you want specific doctor recommendations, PM me and I can share more details. I am now in Chicago as we moved after my treatment.

Thank you all for the information........this site is absolutely the best. I am going to an appt that was set up by my doctor this afternoon, and I am also waiting for a call back from U of M.....just praying I can get in there. I think I am going to the surgeon in town today just to hear something else other than "you have breast cancer"!! It just amazes me that this is all they tell you at first and then you have to wait many days to find anything out.
You are all so helpful I cannot tell you how much I appreciate it. I want to live!!!

Thanks all for your information! My pre-op appt is tomorrow with surgery scheduled for the 15th for a mastectomy. They made me feel great about things and are so available if I call or anything. So much better than here at home with the local doctors.
