A year out from active treatment - more appts than ever

I was so excited that December had NO appts in it. Then the psych nurse scheduled me (to talk about the depression meds I'm on that help me cope with the side effects of Tamox and this entire last year), then suddenly I had issues with my feet (I'm only 53!) which led to trip to podiatrist - I see her tomorrow to see if she says surgery or not. Then tomorrow even have an MRI scheduled for my "good" side. (I just asked about some issues which led to mammograms, ultrasound, a failed ductogram and now the MRI. Then Wed I see an endocrinologist because of vit d issues. The psych nurse scheduled another visit the ends of the month. ANd I'm needing to schedule another reconstruction surgery soon. Plus I was told to make a gyn appt , and that i should schedule a a colonoscopy.
From basically never going to the dr to feeling like I can't get away... What's happening?! I feel like it must look like I have a medical addiction, though dh admits that they all are for valid reasons. Am I alone

sophia, no, you aren't alone. I guess with the BC DX comes pre-cautionary measures. Not fun. I just had my colonoscopy. Was easy peasy, if that helps! No female parts left, so I don't have to worry about gyno appts, thank goodness. My MO also suggested an endocrinologist, but I have upped my Vit D to see if that helps. If not, I guess that will be another Dr on my list. I see my MO for follow up in a week or so, so will get Vit D level checked then. Praying it's good, so I don't have to see another Dr.
It seems quite over-whelming when you go from a couple routine Dr's to several in such a short time. Very hard to take sometimes. I feel your pain! I also had to get a DX mammo and U/S on the "good" side recently. I guess it won't end anytime soon. Know that you aren't alone. Dr's are being diligent. Take care~

Nope, you are definitely not alone. It is hard to keep it all straight sometimes. Last week I had a week like you described....2 cardiology appts, lets take a look at my wonky ovary, Herceptin infusion, follow up with my regular doc for my high cholesterol, and get my PET Scan results. I went to most of the appointments by myself, because the husband was a little overwhelmed by it all. I get that, it is overwhelming.I am celebrating 3 weeks of no appointments. I get to be appointment free until December 26th. Yay!
Good luck with yours
I have to believe this calms down at some point.

Yep I know just how you feel.. I have a cardiologist ,oncoligist radiologist , breast surgeon,MD,and a urologist . My poor dentist called the other day and I told them I just couldn't deal with another Drs appt LOL! I have had everything a body can have done this year. I told them while hood was up and since my deductale is paid do what all needs to be done. It was time for my colonoscopy and I got a bone density test. I have a heart condition so they ran all those test. I have paid through the nose on insurance for years it's nice getting a little bac

It's amazing that we go from almost never needing a doctor or never taking any meds, to Full Doctor/Meds routine and it's overnight. Now everytime I go to a doc, it's like old home week and they know me by sight at the pharmacist. I know the brand names of their information systems, for God's sake.
For the first time, I'm coming to realize why my older relatives never wanted to move because it would change their docs.

Count me among those who never had reason to go to the doctor before BC. When I went, it was like, get out of here, quit wasting my time, there is nothing wrong with you. It was true. There was nothing wrong with me. I needed to take a break from doctor appts. My last appt was in August. Now I'm playing catch-up. I see my primary on Wed, my urologist on Thurs, my eye doctor next week. And I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled next week(at age 55!) I was hoping it could wait until I'm 60(lol)
I know my appt with my pcp will trigger at least 2 other appts. An orthopedist & the gastroenterologist........ perhaps more.........sigh

Well, the MRI Monday night turned into an appt next Tues afternoon for another ultrasound and possibly a biopsy. That morning I see my family dr for a pre-op physical for bunion surgery on the 26th which is in the afternoon, right after a colonoscopy. The appt with the endocrinologist just led to labs with a follow up in 3 months. Oh, and i had to make an eye appt today too - I need more contacts Anything else?!

I'm so glad I don't have appointments until the second week of Jan! But my calf/knee is killing me and I should make an appt. I think my thyroid meds are too low but I see my PCP 2nd week of Jan for that. I will see if she thinks an endo could treat me better. With the new year I can get back to PT as well
