At a lost
On November 17, 2014 I found out I had breast cancer. I'm in the process of going to all of the doctors to determine what are my best options. I am a very private person and it is hard for me to reach out to others for support. Therefore I am having a hard time dealing with this. I try to go on with my day to day life and keep a smile on my face because I don't want to deal with the sad looks people give you when you say you have breast cancer. Telling my two kids and my mother was hard. I think my mother is in more denial then I am. I can't talk to them because I don't want them to worry. I think this is probably the scariest thing I had to face and I feel like I am facing it alone because I am to worried about other peoples feelings. Is there anyone else who feels like that?

So sorry you have joined the club that nobody wants to join. Sending you hugs. Know how you feel now as I just went through the testing/surgery merry_go_round. It is so hard to be strong for your family when you are scared yourself.
Since you didn't go into detail regarding what you have been told about your cancer, the only advice I can offer is to take notes on whatever you are told (take a friend or family member with you to doctor's appointment if possible). Get copies of all testing so you can go over it. Don't let anyone tell you what to do. You have to make the decision that is best for you and your type/stage of cancer.
Feel free to PM me if you want to "talk". You will find a lot of support on these forums.

703,
Sorry you were dx. I hated all the attention in the beginning, I am a private person, also.
The sad looks, the comments of "just stay positive". Being dx & going thru the treatments, is a roller coaster. Your mom & kids are worried about what will happen next, but are most likely putting the brave face on for you. I found BCO when I was almost done with chemo. I had aggressive treatments, being dx stage 3. If you need chemo, find the group here, that starts when you do. You will have a support system that everyone is experiencing the same thing, or close to it.
None of this is easy. After treatment, it is a big adjustment also, putting the worry behind you, finding that inner joy again. Be kind to your self.

OMG!! I, sure do remember "Just Stay Positive" NEVER heard anyone say that to someone who lost their job!! The beginning is very hard.....it will take time.....but down the road you will be in a different place....Liz

I'm the same way. Sometimes using a forum like this can help get some of the help you need or just people to talk with that are going though some of the same things you are. I think there's an area on here that you can use to vent also, without being judged in any way. I have to find that. lol
Stay strong. It's hard I know, but we will all get through it.

You are not alone and as you've already found, there are lots of members who know what you are going through that you can 'talk' to here. The above advice is right and you need someone to talk to either here or a special friend you can rely upon for advice and possibly have attend appointments with you.
It is a very scary time but you'll possibly feel better once a treatment plan is in place as many find they feel back in 'control' again then.
We wish you the best but if you can, provide the members more info on your diagnosis as then they can provide better quality relevant feedback to you. You can add your diagnosis (Dx) in your profile (best option) or just post it here.
