newbie here.

I love to swim especially breast stoke and back crawl. Any input from swimmers that influenced your type of reconstruction?

    Hi Cloesmom!

I'm a swimmer too and just started up again 3 weeks ago, which was about 8 weeks after my exchange surgery. I had permanent implants after 5 months of tissue expanders. I must admit, it felt very strange at first! Because my pectoral muscles are over my implants, they felt like they were "popping" with every stroke when doing breaststroke. Freestyle and backstroke felt about 80% normal however. But, over the past few weeks I have noticed a significant change--I no longer have any iron bra feelings and I cannot tell you what a relief this is! The breasts have softened and scar tissue dissipated. Breaststroke still feels odd, but I can live with it. Best wishes for your recovery

I haven't had reconstruction yet but I've decided against Lattisimus Dorsi flap for this reason. I also don't want implants under pec muscles for this reason. I'm planning to have a DIEP flap as it doesn't involve muscles.
