Let's conduct our own study on how we all got breast cancer

^ But did she actually eat the candy?! I think that's the key.
-
...well...no...i guess she didn't, so she's probably safe......
-
maybe it was all that "unwrapped" Halloween candy...yikes!
-
Lol...just wait patoo...If this thread gets famous EVERYONE will know that dust bunnies cause BC
-
The truth of the matter is BLACK JELLYBEANS. When I was a kid in the 50's, my mom told me they had to stop making black jellybeans because they caused cancer. I was heartbroken 'cause they were my favorites. Later I found out she liked them the best too, and would pick them out of the bag before I got to them. I still have a guilty twinge when I eat them.
-
It was the red m&m's, too, I remember. They pulled them out of the bags for a while. And I don't believe for a minute that our dust bunnies cause breast cancer.
Just PATOO'S dust bunnies. I mean HER dust bunnie's caused ALL our cancers! Furious and mighty dust bunnie's She's got goin on there.
-
BOO for Patoo's Turbo Dust Bunnies!!
I was wondering if - perish the thought - it could be cheesy romance novels. Heaven knows I've read more than my share of Jude Deveraux, Luanne Rice and Debbie Macomber. I thought I'd read enough Stephen King, John Grisham and Dean Koontz to balance things out but, apparently not.
-
I never read many romance novels but I suppose it could have been that True Confessions magazine I thumbed through.
-
Oh no.. I read those True Confession magazines too ( under the covers of a night) .. Yep Magicalbean, now I think of it, I'm sure you're right..It's what caused it :-o
-
I think it was sitting in the beauty parlor, waiting while Mom had her hair done and being exposed to all those chemicals in the air and reading Photoplay! I remember all those articles and b/w photos of Liz and Dick. They were always fighting and someone managed to get ugly pics.
-
Pretty sure I got it due to going to school bra-less without getting caught that one time in junior high or maybe too much Prince Matchabelli Windsong cologne in the 70s or listening to Van Halen's Running with the Devil over and over again or maybe the Mexican weed! Such a jaded life as a kid. Paying for it now, but wouldn't change a thing!
-
OOH! I coulnd't STAND the stink of windsong! my mother adored it! I was sooo happy when she switched to Georgio's of beverly hills, a much friendlier fragrance that reminds me of purple somehow. And you are right! adding or omitting clothing did it to me too! When other girls were finally allowed to wear pants to school, my mom said no. And I was such a tomboy, i started asking for seperates(top and skirt, Jumper and blouse,) then i snuck some pants to school and kept them in my locker. would change in the bathroom! She was also the one who inflicted beehive hair do's on me while others were wearing their hair straight and parted in the middle. Any one remember tie back blouses? or dittos?
-
I wore Charlie and Jovan musk...(really????) Then when i "grew up" I wore Lauren... but seriously I think that it is all those loads of nasty clothes we hug to our chests taking them to the washer..
Happy Thanksgiving girls. This thread reminds me that laughter is a precious thing.
-
When I wuz a widdle kid, somebody gave me a dab of Estée Lauders Youth Dew. Look where that got me
-
Bettysgirl: I loved Lauren. And Norell. Now my fave is Philosophy's Amazing Grace.
-
Jovan Frankincense & Myrrh, Chloe, Bakkir & Aromatics Elixir for me in the 70s/80s. Liked Hope & Interlude too.
-
mine was ciggiebut, spiltbeer, and nonetoofreshlaundry. early 80's.
-
Ooh, that too for me Kath!
-
Melissa:
-
Oh, yes - the '80's. I wore YSL Opium. Obsession was everywhere, too. Especially in the department store where I worked at the time.
I think it was folding all those acrylic sweaters against my chest that gave me BC.
-
The Noxema and Tabu I snuck into and slathered on. Need I say more?
-
PE class in junior/high school. Back when we had to shower after activities, no time to get ready, those nasty showers had all kinds of nastiness. All that embossment triggered the BC. Worst part had to be swimming in high school. All the embarrassment getting completely undressed into those disgusting 1-piece swim suits, turned them in at the end of class, didn't take them home to wash, who knows how/if they laundered them properly.
-
eeeeeeeeeeewwwwww!!!!!!!!!
-
Youth Dew
-
Yep, I remember Opium and Jean Nate! But don't you all go blaming my dust bunnies on your problems. My dust bunnies had enough on their hands keeping me busy. Your own dust bunnies are not off the hook.
kathec, how do you know the doll doesn't have BC? Has she been biopsied or even had a mammogram in the last few years?
-
heh heh she's a bad girl, never does as she should. I know she's over fifty and she really should!
-
Love's Baby Soft & Love's Fresh Lemon (remind me why we wanted to smell like lemons?)
I think twolumps and kathyc are onto something with the clothes issues. I wasn't allowed to wear or even own pants in my strict Baptist family - but I would sometimes wear my friend's jeans when I stayed over at her house. We'd play Osmond records all night, but she doesn't have BC so I don't think I got it from Donny & Marie. One can never be sure, though...
P.S. Stuck in my head now: "I can't seem to forget you, your Windsong stays on my mind."
-
Avon Skin So Soft and Phisohex...
-
Oh, Thanks GeorgiaRai,, now I have that song in my head too. hahahaha,, amazing how we can remember commercials and theme songs to TV shows, isn't it? I bet you can sing the theme to Gilligan's Island.I think it was the Charlie perfume. I was a Charlie girl!
-
Remember the song from Gilligans? My DH is still watching the re runs!!!!!
