yes, I did bowel prep.  I didn't know I had to until my pre-op appointment.  I only had to drink a 10oz bottle of magnesium something or other, not as much as my husband had to do for his colonoscopy.

Jen, I had a feeling that they would spring that on me at the pre-op visit.  Good to know so I'll be prepared.

Jen, grats on surgery! Hope recovery is smooth for you! I'm due to get mine out in November after my family trip in the end of October. I finish rads at the end of this month so this gives me time to heal as well.

Just checking in and seeing how everyone is doing! I am almost done with rads with less than 2 weeks left. My skin tried to hang in there but it's peeling with the raw layer beneath it peeling and my blisters have started to bleed! Yea! But my RO and his staff are pretty awesome and I have been given lots of things to help me get through this last bit. The best item he gave me was a nonadhesive pad from Sweden called Mepiplex or the manufacturer is named that. It is great and really helps with the pain as it covers the raw nerve endings! If anyone has issues with pain, I highly recommend asking your RO for it!

Hope everyone is faring well in their journeys!

    Sinsin,

So glad to hear that you are almost done with rads. I have an appointment with my RO on Thursday for plan and simulation. Probably starting rads next week??? I was delayed due to a second lumpectomy for clear margins. My BS wanted me to get chemo asap after, unexpectedly(my MRI showed normal sized nodes) finding a 1cm tumor in my sentinal node. So I had lumpectomy, then chemo, then lumpectomy for clear margins, now rads. Thanks for the tip for the swedish pad! Hope your skin feels better real soon. Wendy

Sorry it's been so long since I checked in here. My surgery went great, although I was sick post surgery from the anesthesia. For the first 2 weeks after I felt great! Then I spiked a fever and got an infection at the drain site. Started antibiotics, had the drain for 23 days. I now have lymphedema, it might have been slightly there pre surgery but has gotten worse since having the surgery. I go to a lymphatic PT session tomorrow, I hope it is reversible. The other issue is it feels like there is fluid under or around my implant. If my body doesn't reabsorb it I don't know what will happen.

Ali, they can probably drain the fluid if your body doesn't absorb it. Sorry about all your troubles but I hope the PT helps with the lymphadema!!

It's my Cancerversary today!! One year ago today I was told I had breast cancer. I am forever a changed woman. I was remembering how I felt when I heard those words, it actually made my stomach turn. But I'm gonna be okay!

Lorbgoo, done with all treatment except the Aromatose Inhibitor of course. I am on Arimidex for the next 5 years at least. I go in December 9th to have my ovaries and tubes removed but that is a more voluntary or elective surgery. And then eventually, my reconstruction. But that's it. What a relief! How are you doing? How was your reconstruction?

sinsin. I'm doing good. I'm done with everything except tattoos. My reconstruction went well. I am anxious to get him to look at it cause it looks like I have fat on my upper fob near my underarms. Anyone else have this

I am debating about getting a tattoo done on my mastectomy scar. There is a renowned tattoo artists here in Seattle that if I did it, I would go to her.

As to the possible fat, sorry I cannot help there.

Just popping into to let everyone know we lost a dear friend today, SusieM from San Francisco.

Susan was an extremly clever and wonderful lady. She had great insights about treatments and her experience with cancer. It has been a wonderful thing meeting her here and without this thread or website we would have never have met.

I hope everyone from this thread is doing ok and still fighting this battle.

I'd like to think Susan might be able to tell the boss that there needs to be a cure. We cannot suffer this anymore.

    RIP Sweet Susie.

Sigh, insomnia big time, thinking about our sweet Susan. But I cannot stop thinking that she will be guiding all of us, tapping us on the shoulder when we need a clue, to learn from her experience. Big love, big hug, Susan Modlin. image

    My update

My 2 year anniversary from diagnosis is a few days away. Wow! It's today according to my treatment schedule below. 2 years out I guess. :)

My TE reconstruction failed because I had rads and the incision site became compromised. I just had my Lat Dorsi op on Nov 27 with TE. My breast already looks and feels more natural. Could have saved time had I opted for Lat Dorsi earlier in 2015. Will get current TE replaced in May, 2016, and my other breast reduced to match some time after. Hope everyone is well...
