Sandra and Chevy - you made me smile. I miss my sandals. That woman was definitely not ready to clean house. Sure she had her hat and gloves, but no pearls!
-
I've been early to bed early to rise to clean house for early Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday!

Choose Inner Peace.
Nothing is worth losing your inner peace.
Take action as circumstances require,
but never surrender your inner peace.
Stop. Breathe deeply.
Close your eyes and breathe deeply again.
Then, and only then, take action -
from a peaceful heart.

Ha Haaaaaaaaaaa! She DID forget her pearls!

Checking in here. I had to ( Dh took the call yesterday ) go to Mt. Vernon V.A. and had blood drawn for tests this morning. I usually get a note in the mail -- no dice this time. Just fortunate that I don't work on Friday as a rule.
Anyway, tons of stuff to do and I'm just now finishing my work cup of coffee this morning. Refill soon, very soon.

Chevy, I love the lady in the red dress. My sentiments exactly. I'm six weeks post-op though and about out of excuses to sit in the recliner. Today my goal is to find those damn glasses! Yesterday I misplaced my spares and kicked myself all day for my forgetfulness. Finally found them so I was "forced" to read for a couple of hours since I now could do it. Stayed up too late. Sigh. It's all the glasses fault.

Oh Teka....have a Happy early Thanksgiving on Sunday. Do you live in one of the areas of New York that received the monstrous amounts of snow?
-
We're planning a cruise thru Alaska's inside passage in May. Yes, I know it could be cold and wet, but this ND gal has the clothes for that. What I need to decide next is what type of cabin: inside, oceanview, or balcony. Has anyone cruised the inside passage, what kind of room did you have and were you satisfied with it?
-
Puffin, I just came back from there in September. If you don't HAVE to go in May, I would recommend you wait. I did about a year of research before I booked and May is pretty early. Some areas are not open yet which causes delays and rerouting. Of course prices are higher in June, July, and most of August. It really depends on what kinds of animals you hope to see. Salmon don't run until the end of the summer so that means more bear and eagles, but whales, seals, and sea lions are more plentiful in June, July. It also depends on what excursions you want to take. Helicopter and pontoon plane flights are often grounded due to bad weather early in the season. I wanted to see natural salmon runs up in the rain forests around Ketchikan so I went in late August. If I were to do it again and could afford the higher rates, I'd go the second week of August because there are more animals around. There were still whales in the inside passage when I was there but not as many as two or three weeks before. I'm told by mid-September the numbers are way down since the majority have moved on to Hawaii. Same with seals and sea lions. Eagles are plentiful especially during salmon season. I had a friend who went in June and eagles were #1 on her list but she didn't see any! I saw them in Ketchikan because that's the salmon capital of the country but there would have been more if I could have gone a week or two earlier. Prices were just too high then but I'm totally happy with our experience. Another of my "must do" items was a glacier hike which I couldn't have done in May or June when you can't get that close. Takes a bit of melting before you can beach your canoe on the edge of the glacier or, for that matter, takes some warmer weather to melt the ice so you can even paddle across the fjord.
Princess has the best itineraries. I went on Golden Princess (along with Di from this group) and had a marvelous trip. Not all cruise lines are able to go into Glacier Bay. Make sure you go there. It is the absolute highlight of the trip. The weather is quite mild in August. You will not ever need a heavy coat. Layers are the way to go. I wore a t-shirt, sweatshirt, and fleece jacket with gloves, hat, and scarf. Under my jeans I wore a pair of leggings. Perfect. You can shed layers as the day moves on. It is colder if you are on the glacier so you will need one extra layer. When the ship is moving at night, it is cold outside but that's true even in the Caribbean. Those ships can do some moving! We get inside cabins since we are never there for longer than it takes to sleep and dress. There are plenty of good spots for watching the scenery go by on deck. PM me if you want excursion recommendations.

-
Puffin, We did the inside passage with Holland America Line when I was working for them. I agree that Glacier Bay is a must. We had an inside cabin which was fine, because we were always up in a view lounge or deck when we were awake. Unless you think you'll need to rest during the day, I would not go for the view cabin. The one thing I wished I'd taken was some needlework or knitting to keep my hands occupied while the scenery slid by.

Gorgeous day here in south Louisiana today. Sunny, high in the low 70's. I played golf in cropped pants and a short-sleeved shirt. Didn't play well but enjoyed being outside. Four of us stayed for lunch. I just had a salad since dh and I are having steak and baked potato for dinner tonight. If I eat a substantial lunch, I have to skip dinner or eat something very light. Oh, the good ole days when I had no problem with weight. It probably had a lot to do with activity level as well as younger metabolism.
The weather forecast is not looking good for Sunday morning, which could mean some cancellations for driving to our family Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday. That could mean a lot of leftover food unless my sister and I make some plans to prepare a smaller quantity.
I'm surprised that so many women are coming out and accusing Bill Cosby of rape during past years. It sounds like he was a busy man!
Puffin, I hope you and I can get together next summer if dh and I return to northern MN. The area where we stay is only about an hour from Fargo.
Hope everyone has a good evening.
-
ritajean,
Thank You, and looking forward to an early Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday!
Unlike the following, we're in the Adirondack Mountains and get just a little lake-effect snow!

-
That picture is UNREAL! Wow!
-
Bet he wishes he had a smaller house.
-
Hmmm, I think that looks so scary in that roof picture. Carole, I too am surprised by the Cosby accusations -- not sure how I feel about it. Of course, we always hope things like that don't happen and expect prosecution if it does. I'm not sure of the previous outcomes though I think some people did receive some kind of settlements. Not perhaps for something that happened but more so as to move on. Maybe there were things that could not be substantiated on both sides so that giving a settlement could end things. So, my feeling is someone is up to something to hold off till NOW. Just thinking out loud -- I didn't follow the cases well way back then and I'm not following it now.

great picture Teka ! Shuf
-
Thank You!!
The accusers were adults at the time. Fodder for tabloids.
-
Carole, that sounds like a fun idea to get together next summer. Lew has family that lives in Brainerd.
Sandra and Wren, thanks for the Alaska feedback.
-
Teka -- I think you hit the nail on the head there. Monica Lewinsky interjected herself into the news a couple of times and the last time not too long ago. I think she got a really poor reception from people. Meaning I think she too "needed" to be 'noticed' so wanted to "rekindle" her 15 mins. of former fame.
I guess I view it as something that is long past and there is little reason ( unless it is something on a personal level ) to try to regenerate something that was laid to rest long time ago.

I think there are too many women coming forward for me to conclude that Cosby is probably innocent. I wonder how long he and his wife have been married. I guess I could look it up if I were curious enough.
Puffin, some of the people we know at Pine Hollow Resort are from Brainerd. Quite a few are from Fargo and one older couple about our age are from Minneapolis. I hope we are able to go back next summer. We really enjoy our time in that location. The nearest town is Park Rapids, which is a nice little town with nice people.
-
Carole: yes, I'm familiar with Park Rapids. Back when my legs were young we used to ride our bikes on the bike trail that goes through Park Rapids. It's a beautiful area

Every decision that you make either moves you toward your personality, or toward your soul. Each decision you make is an answer to the question, "How do you choose to learn love?", "How do you choose to learn authentic empowerment-- through doubt and fear, or through wisdom?"

Going to be wet here off and on through the day. We are however; much, much warmer than we have been the last three or more weeks. Feels rather good outside. Though off and on today giving you a little dry out time in-between it really sounds like it will just rain for the most part very consistently tomorrow. Hmmm. Well, no reason not to expect "odd" weather -- who knows when.
I understand via the t.v. news that Bill Cosby had a performance last night somewhere ? and he was given a rather long standing ovation. So, leads me to think there are a lot of people who just simply think this is something that could have and should have been handled long ago and shouldn't interfere when people are now so much older and should be able to look to some "ease" in life rather than 'torture'. I can go with that. Teka, you really did have it right.
Blessings

I find it a little hard to believe that he needed to rape a woman. He was very good looking and should have had no trouble finding consenting females.
-
Good looking and not lacking in a gracious gentlemanly style either I bet. I just think had there EVER been anything -- there would have been enough noteworthy and newsworthy chastisement that Cosby could never have made it to this point. Neither though, do I think him perfect, but that 'celebrities' make very good targets as they do have great assets. Also don't think Mrs. Cosby ( Camille ) could have just sat next to him like she did if she wasn't sure of Mr. Cosby. I don't know for sure, but I think she is his one and only wife that he has been married to since a young age.
Also, I do think those that step out of line so badly ( if one is totally sure they have ) should have to be sanctioned for that behavior with whatever is appropriate. We so need to respect and care for each other -- but part of respect and care is not only doing what's right -- but doing it at the proper time. I'm not convinced at all that anything happened and bringing it out long after it is an offense that one could actually be prosecuted for leaves me with suspicions about the person coming forward so late. Do the right thing and do it at the right time.

Here's this week's photo, the back is definitely filling in, pleased how much difference I see even in just a week.

Carol and Puffin: I lived in LeSueur for almost 30 years. The Rat Bastard Ex lives in Hovland-north of Grand Marais. Minnesota is a beautiful state.

Puffin2014 your looking good! Shuf
