Let's Post our Daily Exercise

Different ones of us have done Minneapolis, Chicago, Washington D.C. and last year was the 'Traveling Feast', which started in Huntington Beach and ended in San Francisco. We are definitely open to going just about anywhere. Have sisters, will travel!
-
Ruth, maybe check out Pittsburgh in 2016. It's a great city with lots to offer!
-
Bet ruth is already on it! Pittsburgh will now be on our radar. We have been blessed that this year and next we get to use badger's mom's timeshare - 2 condos.
Jazzygirl, I am thinking, though very little, about a trainer but the one we had tonight would turn me off. He just didn't "get it" that I'm at least twice his age. Told him I had bad hip and he just wanted me to push through. Not going to happen. Told one of the managers who put the trainer intro sessions together that I would never sign with that one though the lady we had on Monday night might be workable. We'll see. I tend to not care to be locked into a schedule, especially after working all day.
So only did 15 mins warmup on bike before trying to do the upper body workout he was supposed to take us through. Lots of planks and floor work which involved the legs/hips. Most of them I could not do because I have no hip rotation. I lasted about 20 mins and then the cramps started. So next week will try some classes again, Zumba and maybe Spin. We'll see.
Night my sculpted friends.

Patoo- finding the right trainer is key. I have worked with the young kid types before and they don't get it. I did some personal training at my gym when I went back there after my surgeries to have someone put together a weight routine. My trainer was a body builder and more concerned about her upcoming competition than making sure I got what I was needing. I did six sessions with her and that was that.
When I decided to look into it this year again, I found a trainer who is older (probably in her 50s) and had a college degree around this stuff. That is rare to find too, not that they don't have college degrees sometimes but many of them are just not all that familiar with the human body, period. I explained where I was coming through two very big medical events and needing to get my fitness back and what my goals were. She does a lot of work with people who have chronic illnesses like MS, parkinsons, etc. who need quality of life. So I felt she would be able to get my bc and other stuff I have gone through. She will push me and expect me to be accountable, but also understands the 50 year old body.
You can ask your gym if there are any older trainers. Most have a couple and many of them just get that those of us who are not 25 are dealing with a whole different thing around our fitness and ability to work out. My sister is working with a younger trainer at her gym and they seem to be doing fine. We all have to find what works.
Good luck and let me know how it goes!
-
Thanks Jazzy - will do.
-
It's been too cold for swimming so exercise of the day was a walk with my husband (about 2.5 miles).
Claire, could you tell me more about what you learned at the conference re: preventing brain mets in Her2+ patients? I'm really interested!
-
A good club manager should listen to you and get you the trainer that meets your needs, another thing is to watch trainers in action you can often judge them by the way they interact with clients oh and you should ask them for their certification.
Tonight did a double header, Body Pump followed by Body Combat.
-
Ruth, here is the direct link.(<--click) Very cute! Clarie, I'm so wanting to hear of a breakthrough for children's DIPG brain tumor research; gald you had a fun time. Good to read so many staying active! Off to start 4 mat Thursday with body balance at the gym and will pop in later.
-
You guys are a riot, Ruth! Thanks for the link, Lilac.
Yesterday did some yin yoga in bed, then Zumba at a new gym I'm trying out, and BodyJam in the evening. -
More laundry!
-
Got my tabatta class in this morning at 5:30. Tomorrow is yoga!
-
Just finished yoga....hoping to take a 30 min walk later...the weather is warming up
-
Love your costumes, Ruth! Adorable!
Claire: glad your conference was successful.
Good evening. Walk/ran at the park late this afternoon. Clear sky and 57 degrees. Praying for those in and around Buffalo. Can't even begin to imagine that much snow.
-
Just chores today and a special lunch with my grand girls at their school

Went to my class this morning. 'Passed' my annual general physical this afternoon. Among other topics, we had discussed those Lifeline Screenings one gets advertisements about (stroke, abdominal aneurisms, bone density etc. etc.). His thought is that they are a waste of money, because all that is checked out during an annual physical anyway. So when he was poking around later, he commented, "You are so slender that I can easily feel your abdominal aorta." I laughed and said, "Well, that is the first time I've ever heard that particular compliment!" What a sweet talking man!

Have share this with all you beautiful women:

-
Ruth - your video is great!! Looks like you ladies have a wonderful time together!
I'm not having any luck with consistency...I'm not giving up, though! I know the voices are encouraging me, I just have to spend more time caring enough about myself and my health to let some other things go while I take care of ME!
-
11/20- long and busy day today but I did a 20 min walk around the client building/parking lot today. My steps were 12K plus today so I know I did a whole lot of moving around!
-
Mel, I have a notebook. Each week I record how much exercise I want to get (in 15 minute increments) and then check them off as I get the exercise. I am very anal, so feel like I HAVE TO get those boxes checked off by the end of the week. That has worked really well for me.
-
Thanks for the tip, Ruth...that is a great idea! I like being held accountable and accomplishing things, so that would probably help me a lot!
Jazzy posting about getting steps in has also made me remember I have a pedometer around here somewhere...I think I will try that, too!
-
I actually have two columns; one for aerobic exercise & one for toning. And I go Monday to Sunday. That way if I don't get it in during the week, I have the entire weekend to catch up. I do 15 minute increments, because most days one can find at least 15 minutes.....even if it is walking in place, or doing sit ups/push ups/leg raises while watching the news.

I am thrilled to be down about 5 lb post flu and post conference. It helped that the breakfast/lunch spread was mediocre at best, so just left dinners, and a lot of those were fish. So everything fits wonderfully. I am back on the exercise wagon.
What worked at the conference was WALKING. I was the only one who walked, one time to the mini conference hotel to pick up my cellphone charger. About 1.5 miles each way and met everyone for dinner. Better for you than another drink at the bar.
My normal weekday routine is crunches before the shower, at least 2 miles of walking (or a 5k run if I can fit that in) and then weights while I am cooking dinner. Weekends, I do a long cycle or run, depending on weather. This keeps me fit. Not to mention being able to eat. I need to mention balance here too. Trail running really helps with that and so does the exercise ball.
I can't wait to get back on my bicycle (another one for improving balance) and tone my legs/midsection. This also helps with shoulders/pecs/upper arms. I am not quite as sculpted there as normal. 25 miles of cycling should fix me right up. Hoping to ride both days.
I am so looking forward to a weekend at home....was gone or had the flu for an entire month. Tons to catch up with....lots of little things that I let slide because I needed to cover basics. The CEO of the nonprofit gave her husband his marching orders: 8 coming for Thanksgiving and one roll of toilet paper in the house. I need to do a pantry audit as well, but one thing I do with my larger place is make sure I have enough paper goods on hand.
Will write key learnings from the conference when I have some time over the weekend. Happy exercising, all. Remember that if you WALK when doing all those errands, those miles add up. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. - Claire
-
Olaf, tabata at 5.30 is torture! If you mean a.m.
Body Combat for me at 7 p.m.
-
danced while I was doing dishes.
-
Freestyle step with weights and body balance this morning.
-
Heidihill, that would be 5:30 AM. Wednesday and Thursday are my early morning routines. The rest of the week not so rough as to time.
-
Happy Friday Everyone! Just returned from my fast walk/run. I've been busy cleaning house today b/c we are hosting hd's family for an early Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday. More cleaning needed!
-
11/21- back to personal training today and an hour of circuit training with my trainer. Hope to squeeze an end of the day walk in to get my 10000 steps for the day!
-
got some excercise walking in the grocery store
-
I subbed for 8th grade Geography and wish I had been wearing a pedometer! Our school has a system where the same group of kids has the same teachers for their core classes (to keep better track of them), and during homeroom today this group went down to the Fitness Center and did one of those Dance Revolution games; the lady English teacher & I danced along with the kids (apparently men teachers don't dance!), and I spent the rest of the day walking up and down aisles because they were taking a test. Left to their own devices, 8th graders tend to poke each other with pencils, throw spit wads, copy off each other's papers and other naughty things. I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes when I got home & am now trying to convince myself to do a little toning.
