Prayers for you Ganz! I hope that your recovery goes well and that we will hear good news when pathology comes back!
-
Gosh Ganz, I'm glad you got them out. Waiting along with you for those results, and hoping they'll be reassuring.
(To find the November thread you asked about, go to All Topics, then choose Surgery Before During and After (under Tests, Treatments and Side Effects) and then scroll down until you find that thread)
-
thank you ml14, and imheretoo for the info to find nov thread...how are you two ladies today?
-
I'm doing fine, Ganz - Just itchy and sensitive from the rads, but that's just silly stuff-- nothing important.
-
Imheretoo...glad to hear your ok. I read your story and al I can say is WOW. I cant believe the healthcare system I Italy..its ridiculous ! I cant even imagine having my bmx over there...allllll that waiting at every appointment, the way the nurses treated you, just..omg ! You should have come back to the states lol. Im sure that wasn't an option at the time..you probably just wanted to get rid of the cancer. You are one brave warrior !
-
I am doing good. Blood clots are slowly resolving.
-
ganz - I'm glad the recovery is going well so far and will keep my fingers crossed for a good pathology report!
ml - sorry to hear about your blood clots. Hope they resolve sooner than later.
-
gang- here if you need me!
-
I could manage work next week, I think...the physiotherapist was pleased with my range of motion...but I'm getting rads to the two spine lesions next week, so there's not much point. I'm sewing like a mad woman and hope I'll have photos for everyone after the murder mystery on Saturday. It's really getting down to the wire!
-
Milaandra, So wonderful to hear this report from you! Every day I've been debating about whether to send you or not a PM just to let you know you're on my mind and I care and hoping things are OK-- But didn't want to oppress you or make you feel pushed to answer if you felt like being silent. Great to hear that you've been sitting up sewing and that you're going to make it to that dress-up dinner you so want to get to. Yay! Some fun! Can't wait to see those pics!
The spinal rads will certainly NOT be fun, I do understand that! But I'm glad your docs are getting moving on your further therapy (and they so kindly fit it in around your planned fun) Here's hoping those rads zap those spine mets into NED!!
-
I just want to say thank you to all of you wonderful ladies on this board. We have come so far in our individual journeys, but have managed to stay true to each other through encouragement, knowledge and thoughts/prayers.
I hope that everyone will have a good weekend and be able to do the things that matter to them!
On a personal note - my blood clots are resolving, but I will stay on blood thinners probably through the end of chemo. I'm okay with that as long as the blood thinners keep the clots away! I never thought about them until I got them, but man do they ever hurt.
-
Mandy, what if anything are you taking to relieve you of the discomfort of the clots? I had a second ultrasound last chemo session and they told me the clot in my arm had lessened but the clot in my jugular was as big as before. They said I was in no danger, and that eventually my body will make a new path around the clot.
My neck is swollen on both sides and under my chin, so to hear my body will make a new path IN THE FUTURE is driving me crazy! I am on the blood thinner so at least I am not making new clots, and using heat to try and help with breaking up the ones I have. I am pretty depressed that I will have to put up with this discomfort because of the port until it is removed a year from now!

-
Nancy - My MO prescribed Norco for pain. I took it twice and then just took Aleve. Mine are not hurting any longer so I am guessing they are okay and new pathways have been made. My INR was 1.8 of Tuesday. I get it tested along with my weekly CBC today so I should know more.
I did find that using a heating pad helped temporarily.
It does stink to have the blood clots for sure, but I am thankful for modern medical technology and that someone finally listened to me. I kept telling them it was more than a kink in the neck. The one in mu jugular was the biggest one. As a matter of fact, the US tech said "That is a big honking clot in your jugular!" I can still feel that one although it is just a minor discomfort right now. I don't feel the one under my arm at all.
Hang in there!

What a fabulous little getaway! We arrived later than I wanted (still sewing), I was still sewing at the hotel and didn't get to complete everything, but in January I'll finish it all up properly, because I've decided I love the 1870's silhouette, no matter how much fabric and effort it takes. The hotel was in the countryside...an old manor house built up over the centuries from the central Norman tower (1199). Lovely place! Very warm and homey, with fires in all the fireplaces and candles burning everywhere. The rooms were beautifully renovated, too. The murder mystery was fun. Everyone put an effort into dressing up, and it was a great bunch of people. I was given a role...the daughter of character played one of the professional actors (who was about 25, by the way!) and two groups thought I was the murderer! Mind you, lots of people thought I was one of the actors, because my fake accent was so much better than the Scottish people trying to do a fake accent! LOL!! It was so funny to have a cowboy tell you "Nah, ye cannae go" :-D The dinner was perfectly prepared and presented, too. After, I got back into comfy clothes and there were a couple of performers in the main lounge, so we sat around with our event companions singing along with the performers. After a quiet night, we had a perfect Scottish breakfast and then drove home. Because we were so late, we didn't take photos properly and it was already dark. I'll try and post a couple that DH took, but the flash messes up the colour and sheen of the silk. (it was a dusty aquafawn/navy striped taffeta, but the flash makes it look like peacock blue satin) And you know what? I didn't think about cancer...

The hotel...Shieldhill Castle
-
Milaandra, that amazing dress looks so good on you and you look so good in it!! I loved reading this wonderful report of your fun!! It sounds like such a great getaway! What did DH wear??
-
millandra - you look stunning!! I'm in awe and commend you on your seamstress skills. (I can barely sew a button back on!). Sounds like you had a fabulous trip and the hotel looks beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely adventure with us. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself so much you didn't think about the dirty 'c' word.
-
Ganzgirl, Hope you're healing up fine and feeling OK. Do you have a date for appointment to get path result or will they just call you when it gets in? Thinking of you, and with you in your waiting and so hoping the worries are proven wrong!
-
Milandra - you are certainly one talented woman! The dress looked great and you were beautiful!
-
Thanks, girls! DH looked great...I bought him some square-toed natural leather cowboy boots on eBay, one of those caped oilskin coats from a charity shop, and he wore jeans, a civwar shirt in a fine red check and a dirty, beat-up Calgary hat.And a perfectly disreputable amount is stubble, of course. You could almost hear the cattle in the background...
Just had my first spine rad...four more to go...
-
Milaandra, Got a smile picturing DH. Man, I hope those rads are kind to you and nasty as h*ll to the cancer!
-
Milaandra, you are simply awesome.
-
Mil you looked great. Nice to get away and not think about the c thing.
hugs to all

Hi ladies, I am going to have another mammogram tomorrow to check out a lump on the side left. I have noticed that an area that I had checked out earlier was getting slightly bigger. For peace of mind I went to the family doctor and he is sending me for the test. Please keep your finger crossed for me.thank you ladies
-
Oh dear, Quilty,I'm glad the docs are following up quickly and I sure hope all shows that this one is benign! Will be waiting to hear how the exam goes.
-
In the bag for you quilty! So glad you're getting it checked. XXX
-
Fingers crossed! Tell us as soon as you know!
-
Quilt...glad you are getting it checked out quickly. Praying for benign. Please let us know.
-
Hi ladies, going for more tests. Core biopsy on Dec 12. they found two nodes and want to make sure. I feel like it is all starting again, but I will stay positive about this. Darn it.Thank you for all the best wishes.
-
Darn it Yes! But since those rotten things are there, I'm glad they're doing the biopsies. Hoping and hoping they turn out to be harmless bumps this time!
