I am having bad blurred vision and severe pain in my hands. Any advice for these two side effects?

Try L-Glutamine for neuropathy and icing your hands if your MO will let you. Blurred vision may be a visual migraine or taxane tears. Don't know what you are on, you can go to my profile and add all that stuff if you want.

Blurred vision can be due to a number of chemo SE. It might be best to tell your MO and ask for a referral to an ophthalmologist. There are a number of reasons you may have blurred vision. In the meantime try using preservative free OTC eye drops several times a day and eye lubrication (white petrolatum ) at night. All you can purchase at a well supplied drugstore or box store.

Call your Dr and talk to him/her about the issues.  There are many possibilities which may or not be SEs of chemo!

Vision is not something to delay seeing an opthamalogist (sp?).   Sight is a lot more fragile than many realize.   Long story short - a year ago last July, my rt retina detached. I went to an 'eye facily', saw their retina 'expert' - was not scheduled for any TX for 4 days.  Next morning I could not see out of my eye at all.  I raised 'holy Hades' with the facility and did succeed in getting referred to a fantastic.specialist who did save my sight, but had I gotten the immediate TX I should have, the out come would have been better.  2 Weeks (this Jun) after I saw Dr H for a long term follow up, my left retina decided to start detaching.  I called his office and was told to get there as fast as I could safely get there.   Much better outcome this time.  My only reason of telling you this is vision/sight is so precious but also so easily lost.

Sorry - safety first is right, I told my MO and he had me at the eye doctor that afternoon. Then we went about the normal taxane tears and visual migraine stuff. By eye doctor said you want the lubricating drops, my MO said just buy the cheap saline, and don't let it touch anything so it stays sterile. Sterile is important, as you don't want infections. Both said, you do not want one that 'gets the red out'.

I have done none of these things. Just deal with it.
