Hi girls!
Yay Nancy! Good to see you back! Sounds like you had a wow of a time.
I've been busy sewing, making a few things to take away with me and altering a pair of pants. I bought a great pair of comfy slacks but as usual, they were way too high in the rise so some alterations were needed to make them perfect.......done.....lol. It is a busy week this week, I have the monthly BC luncheon in Port Pirie which is an hour and a half drive from here and then on Thursday I have an appointment to have my eyes checked and my nails done. Really there are just a few days to get myself organised......lol. Note to self, don't forget your passport!!
Hope everyone is doing well!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hi all!
Haven't been on for awhile. Finished rads last Wednesday! Happy to report the emu oil workEd like a dream for me. I have some pink skin and redness where I had my boosts, but no blisters, peeling, ect. I still nap everyday but otherwise feel good. Only lingering issue right now is the neuropathy. It isn't as bad. I can feel my big toes now! Lol. Fingers are annoying though.
Now I'm feeling weird that I don't have any dr appointments until December! Lol. Will be seeing my MO every three months now.
Good news! My son returned home on Saturday after a nine month deployment! His wife and kids were able to greet him when his ship got to port. I am looking forward to seeing him this Christmas!
There is so much to read, I fear I will never catch up! Mac, I'm glad you had a fun vacation! Chrissy, I hope you are doing well! Was glad to hear that Barbe is ok. Lisa, we need more photos! Lol
Hope you are all well! hugs, lilyrose

lily, some calming pix for you
So glad your son is home from a nine month deployment...nothing better than that...
-
Beautiful photos, Lisa! Looks like such a peaceful place.
Congrats on finishing rads, Lilyrose. How wonderful that your son's back for now! I know you'll be excited about Christmas this year--getting to see him will be the best gift you'll get!
Chrissy, hope you have a great trip and a great visit with Alyson. Sounds like you have everything under control so all you have to do now is enjoy it, and to remind you---don't forget your passport!
Kathy

Have fun, Chrissy!
Gorgeous photos, Lisa. I really enjoyed seeing them.

Lilyrose, yay!!!!!! For finishing rads. I hope your skin continues to improve. Give yourself time to heal.
I have a question for everyone. Has anyone been prescribed low dose naltrexone? My pain management doc told me about it. She said it boosts immune systems and improves energy. Some of her patients have gotten great results. I did a Google search and some sites call it a wonder drug, but it is not FDA approved for this off label use. My PCP is not excited about it. She has patients that it has not worked. So just wondering if anyone has firsthand experience with it?
Then I saw my chiropractor. She said I have tired adrenals. So I am starting with an adrenal supplement. I just feel like I drag myself through every day. I also had my trigger point injections in my neck and upper back. I know that makes me feel better.
Then I went to the old dog park with my dog and ran into the old gang that we use to walk with all the time. They all said they had missed us. It was a great social activity for both of us and we got some exercise, to boot.
-
isn't that medicine used for drug and alcohol dependence?
-
Lisa, Love, love, love those photos!!!! Such beautiful lilies!
Mac, Thanks. I feela little better everyday. My skin looks way better than I ever imagined! Never heard of that medication...so I'm of no help there.
Kathy, Thanks. My son called me and we had a nice chat. But I'm really looking forward to seeing him and his family at Christmas!
Chrissy and Alyson, I hope you are having a great time!
I had a busy week. My anniversary was on Monday (41 years) ! Tuesday was our oldest daughter's birthday, and Wednesday was our GS' 13th birthday. Phew! I'm tired and we have Thanksgiving coming up! I'm getting out of cooking this year! Yay! Just bringing a ham and whipped topping for the pies. My daughter has six kids that eat like horses, so we have a ham along with the turkey. Lol
Our weather has finally cooled down a bit. I finally turned off the AC this week!
Hope you are all doing well! Hugs, lilyrose

Lisa, yes it is an opioid blocker used in a higher dose. In a low dose it is suppose to boost your immune system and stimulate your endorphins so you get more energy. I'm still doing research and asking questions.
Happy events happening for you this week, lily. Yay!
My DS came home for the weekend. It is a 10th anniversary reunion for his football team winning the state championship. Then there is a big high school game tomorrow. I haven't seen him in a while so it is nice. Then he'll be back next week for the Thanksgiving holiday.
I spent most of today cleaning out the basement of my parent's house. whew lots of dust and a dead animal or two. ick!
-
Oh Lisa, they are beautiful lilies! Are they the ones in the pool at Balboa Park?
Nancy I have never used Naltrexone so can't help you on that one but if you decide to take it I sure hope that it works wonders for you. Yes, I have definitely heard of burnt out adrenals, I think most who have been through treatment for cancer have had this problem. The good thing is though that with some supliments it is possible to give them a boost and get them working properly again. Isn't it great when you meet up with old friends and start chatting like it was yesterday that you saw them.......just fabulous!
Lily so glad you are done with treatment and can now relax and start to heal. Sounds like the resting side of things will have to wait a while though, lots of things happening at the moment. Happy Anniversary for last Monday!!! 41 years is a goodly sum and only 4 years behind me....lol.
All you girls enjoy your Thanksgiving Holiday next week!
I'm all packed and am heading down to the city tomorrow after lunch, staying with DD #2 and then heading for the Airport and Auckland on Monday (your Sunday).........can we say, that I'm just a little bit excited? NO, let's be truthful and say it like it is...........I'm just about jumping out of my skin I'm so excited......lol.....Woohoo!! Look out Auckland and Aly I am about to arrive!!!!
Love n hugs all! Chrissy

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving

Call me a wimp, but I am completely exhausted after making 4 cheese balls! I wish I could stand in the kitchen long enough to complete a task, such as emptying the dishwasher. I thought a two week taxol break would give me time to regain some strength, but apparently not. Took me three hours to make the cheese balls, I had to sit down so often.
Anyway on a lighter note, I am going to a pig roast and football party tomorrow. The Iron Bowl, Alabama vs Auburn, is a huge rivalry every year. Should be fun, even though my team (Auburn) will likely lose. There will be a lot of folks I don't know, but a nice diversion for a few hours
-
Wilsie, I hope you'll be feeling stronger very soon. Do have a great time at the football game and pig roast! Sounds like fun, and btw I'm for Auburn too.
DH did most of the pre-Thanksgiving cleaning here while I cooked, which I'd much rather do. I threw out the little dabs of leftovers tonight (not much since we always send the kids home with plenty) but still have enough turkey for another round of turkey sandwiches, my favorite part. Then tonight DGS (age 5) is here for a sleepover and a hiking trip with Papa tomorrow. So, a free day for me, and they're even taking the dog!
Hope all had a great thanksgiving!

What a happy group of bc sisters in the photograph!
Wilsie, dh and I were talking today about that AL/Auburn game last year when Auburn won. It was one of the most sensational endings ever!
We travelled to Illinois for Thanksgiving and arrived at dh's sister's house on Wed. about 1 pm. About 2 pm it started snowing! So our timing was perfect. The snow accumulated and was very pretty. By yesterday morning when we were ready to leave and drive south, the snow had melted. More good timing!
-
oh you gals look like you had a great meet up!
I am exhausted. We had a yard/estate sale this weekend at my other house this weekend. It was a lot of work, but we got rid of a lot of stuff. We are trying to empty the house so the renovation can begin.
Other than that, thanks giving was great. First time in 5 years that both my kids were home.
wilsie, hope you start feeling stronger soon.
carole, good timing is wonderful. Especially when it just happens.
-
Alyson and Chrissy, Looks like you are all having a great time!
mac, I hear ya on being tired from your yard sale. We were talking about having one just to rid ourselves of some of the mountains of extra horse stuff that we aren't really using. After looking at all the work it would take, we decided to just sell some of the good stuff on eBay. DH is in charge of it so I escaped that job! Lol. Glad you got to see your kids for Thanksgiving!
-
Sitting in infusion, long day, have been here 5 hours and not done yet. Holiday has them backed up. Counting my blessings, I am so much better off than most of these folks. I am not complaining. Will go straight to bed when I get home, tho. Wilsie
-
Hope you get a good night's rest, wilsie.
lilyrose, I know ebay is probably the way to go these days. we still have stuff to jettison. Made the rounds of the thrift stores today and going to the dumptique tomorrow. Also have a guy coming by to look at the furniture still left, from a consignment furniture shop. It is called "Take a Seat" (cute)
-
t girls! Just a quick drop in to let you know that my visit with Aly and the get together have been stupendous!! I'm not looking forward to leaving tomorrow but leave I must as i have a docs appointment on Thursday.........sigh.......and so the merry go round begins anew.
I promise i will post some pics once I get back to my computer.
Willsie hope you didn't have to hang around too much longer........that sure is a long day for you.
Nancy good to hear that both your kids were home for Thanks Giving, its really nice to see them together.
Carole the snow fall sounds like it was just picture perfect!
Lilyrose hope your ebay sale goes well!
Got to go, this phone is driving me nuts!
Love n hugs. Chrissy
