Surgery on Monday but I have a cold!
Let me start by saying I have emailed my breast surgeon. It is 430am so I will not hear back for several hours.
I have a 9am appt today for a radioactive seed placement and I have a UMX scheduled first thing Monday morning. Seed placement is for excisional biopsy of papilloma in healthy breast.
A few days ago I caught a cold from my son. Son had it just two days and was very mild cold. After a few days, I developed a sore throat from post nasal drip. It always happens to me. I didn't take anything because I wasn't sure what medicine I could take the week before surgery.
So I woke up this morning and coughed up some stuff. It appears I am getting worse not better. Still have sore throat and I do not have a fever. I sometimes have a small dry cough from throat irritation.
Are they going to cancel my surgery? This is so upsetting. I was DX on Oct 1 and have already waited this long. My sis is flying across the country on Sunday to watch my young boys for the week. I had everything covered for my surgery week.
If I weren't having the seed today, I could wait and see how I feel in a couple of days.

Hi Luckdog, I just wanted to say Hi! I really can't say whether your surgeon will go ahead if you have a cold. Only your Doctor can make that call. I do feel for you being in this situation, there is nothing worse than the waiting and the thought of any procedure being put off after you've gotten yourself prepared in every way would be awful.
I am hoping your cold won't cause you to have to reschedule all this. Hugs!

Yay, surgery is on! As long as I don't have a fever, I am ok for surgery. A small cold is ok.

That's great news, take care of yourself! Onward and upward....let us know how you get on!

update- when I came out if surgery, I had no coughing. I am guessing the Valium relaxed my throat . It has been two days and I do cough a little in the morning and boy, does that hurt! But I am so happy that most of my cough is gone.

Great news Luckydog! Take care of you and let us know how you're getting on!

Yay, Luckydog42! Glad you are home and recuperating.
My mom had an emergency quadruple bypass many years ago, and I remember the nurses gave her a small pillow to clutch to her chest whenever she had to cough. They told her it would help "keep everything together" and not put so much strain on all her cut muscles and nerves. Mom said it did help. So maybe that would help you if you need to cough?
Wishing you a quick recovery - all around!!!
