20 years
I don't often check the boards or post. But, today is a special day. Today I am a 20 year breast cancer survivor. I'm posting this here because you are the people who most need to hear this. 20 years since diagnosis of a 5+ cm "big, mean, nasty, ugly malignancy" (my oncologist's description). I remember very well what it's like to be where you are now. I've been NED (no evidence of disease) since completing my treatment. Feeling very grateful and just wanted to spread some hope.

That's amazing news! We're always so thrilled to hear from our members who've gotten the upper hand, so to speak. And thank you for posting this here; you're right, lots of newly diagnosed need to hear that they weren't just handed a death sentence. Take care of yourself!

I really needed to see this this morning - I found out last night that two people I know were just diagnosed for their second times around. Good to be reminded that it doesn't have to be inevitable.

Yes! Congrats on your 20 year mark.
There ARE long-term "veterans" out there. (I use the description of veteran....I don't like the warrior, survivor handle.)
I just had my 23 year cancerversary. I found BCO while searching for support and info for a loooong delayed successful recon, and I am hanging around to be another example of "life goes on".

nihahi....congrats and thank you so much for sharing your success!!!!!!!
