Stitching the pieces together

Chrissy, that is lovely. I'm envious, as I never seem to finish any crochet projects I start.

Cute costume Meece!  You are so very talented when it comes to making things for your grands but there again I had to be as well when mine were that age......sharks, sting rays, sea weed, witch doctors etc but I remember I never got more than a couple of days to nut them out, get supplies and get them made......lol.  Loads of fun and I actually miss it.  

I have finally gotten my sewing room sorted and have been down there doing a little bit of what I call the mundane.  I needed another light weight blanket for out bed so I bought some light weight polar fleece and made one and then my bathroom curtain has needed a deeper hem since I have been here and now it is done.....yippee!  As I said mundane but it has given me the impetus to get some sewing done.....lol.

Thanks for the compliments on the throw, I'm pleased that it is done and would be happy to another at some time......knowing my two daughters, I'm sure when they see mine will want one as well.

Wren, the crochet blanket is slip stitched together.

For the blanket, the polar fleece was wide enough to just need two widths to make a nice long blanket that has a large turnover at the top as well as plenty of tuck in at the bottom.  I only needed to have one join which was done my hand in a figure eight stitch so I have a very flat join and is not really noticeable and then I overlocked the edges, folded and hemmed them by machine.  Really easy.

Shellshine, I just stopped by to see what's happening and there you are! I think of you and your life in Hawaii and being a nurse and all your hospice work. I picture you in an aloha scrub outfit, hair beautifully messy, Hawaiian style. I miss Hawaii and have missed hearing from you. With all the rain you get, a garden must grow rapidly. See ya, Jan

Hi Mods! I need to make some clothes for summer so they are on the agenda first......lol.......can't be seen getting around naked, it's not quite socially acceptable for someone my age. I like the top I crocheted for my DD's wedding and get so many compliments when I wear it that I think I might make a cardigan in a similar fashion. Watch this space for confirmation at a little later date.........lol

Melissa - Love that quilt! It will warm up any place it lives. I made at least one pineapple years ago, but I have no idea where it is. I'm been looking for one of my favorite quilts---a free flowing appliqued autumn leaves wall quilt. Sure hope I didn't give it away.

I think maybe this, but I haven't decided on fabric yet. Have a couple of quicker ones I might do first. I'm free motion quilting a big quilt that is taking forever.

Jan, the only thing I have to watch with the colors is unintentionally sometimes ending up with a juvenile looking quilt when I didn't intend to.

We used ric rac around the borders on out intermediate class quilt & I really like it too.

I really like McKenna Ryan too, but I don't think I'm patient enough to do most of her projects. That wall hanging has such great colors.

Blessings that wall hanging is lovely and as much as I like it my younger sister would go potty over it! (Potty = really excited) She loves all things fish and sea and until recently lived on a small island just off the the main coast. Having all the pieces already cut for you would certainly make working it so much easier!

Today I drafted my pattern for a light weight cotton knit jacket (just to go over tank tops as I don't like my arms exposed) and managed to get it 3/4 sewn! It is sort of evolving as I go because I tried to measure myself and cut the jolly thing too short so there has been a section to the bottom which may or may not end up with something fancy added.......time allowing.......lol. I head off to New Zealand on Monday week and there is still a lot to do.

Ooh, pretty bargello. I made some 30's big hexie blocks that were fun & easy to do, but I find them kind of blah & can't seem to het very excited about putting them together. Trying to not get a buch of stuff out because I'm thinking of bringing guys in to de-popcorn & paint.

Chrissy, I can't even imagine working with thread as fine as that lace shawl. I remember the photo of the other one you made. I salute you for being able to remember a pattern (even with a book) for so long.

Maybe my quilting urge will come back. Right now it's all about painting.
