2b or not 2b that really is my question

I don't have anything in my stats yet because I don't know if I'm staged yet. I had a lumpectomy in oct it came back as IDC er/pr + her2 neg 2.4 cm

Extensive dcis

Extensive LVI

3/4 lymphs involved on SLNB (5mm and 1 extranodular)

Grade 2

Diagnosis IDC stage 2b

Margins were dirty had the whole left side taken and ALND. if more lymphs are involved will my stage be bumped up?

I've seen conflicting reports on this.

    hi jovigal, in my experience, stage can and did change with new test results.  I was originally dx stage 1 IDC with DCIS, that changed to stage 2 when a 2.5 cm tumor was found by path following mx, then stage 2b when micromets were found in one sentinel node.  ((hugs))

    ya. That's kindof what I thought. In 2 months I've gone from stage 1 to probably 3.

    I was originally staged "Early 1" and told I would likely not even need any chemo, just a mastectomy because there were four spots. Turns out the four spots are all part of one large tumor and I require chemo before they will even operate...thank God for second opinions!

    I am currently stage 3b (tumor larger than 5cm no nodes) Chemo starts tomorrow.
