scared but hopeful and positive that we can beat this
I was just diagnosed on Tuesday with triple negative IDC Well differentiated grade 1. I can't seem to wrap my head around this.I am 36 and I have three kids and a loving husband. My husband is being so strong and I haven't told my kids yet ( they are in elementary school). I'm meeting with a breast surgeon tomorrow to discuss my options. There is so oo much information out there-I'm walking around in a daze not knowing what is to come and what to expect. Reading all the stories on here have definitely calmed my nerves a bit. I feel like this is a bad nightmare that I have dragged my family into. Did anyone else feel like this? And how do I not let it control my every thought? I'm strongly considering a bilateral masectomy.

I'm also triple negative, stage IV and 30 years older. I'm doing well and am presently NED. If I can do it, you can too. My blessings upon you (being that it's Sunday).

Thank you so much for your positive wishes winningsofar! I'm glad I can share my feelings here with a community that understands exactly what I'm going through. It's unfortunate that we met this way, but I'm so glad we did! Great to hear you are doing well! God is

Grade 1 is good, triple negative is not so good. Expect more of these good news/bad news facts as your diagnosis rolls out. Don't worry about the statistics. I didn't even ask what my prognosis was until 3 years later, because I know it's an unknown. If you respond well to treatment, it's good.
I'm sorry that you are now into the cancer life, so young. You'll never be the same again, but you will be happy again. Your normal life will resume and you will look forward to the future. It will take a few months, but it will happen.

hopefulmomof3 - I am not triple negative, but wanted to send hugs your way. The early days of diagnosis are the most stressful until you get a treatment plan in place. It is doubly hard when you have young ones at home and have to have your strong 'mom face' on for them. Do not be afraid to ask for some prescription help to get you through the early days - such as Xanax or Ativan. Many of us had this help in the early days.

Thank you bayoubabe! Being strong for my kids has been difficult this week. I appear normal to them but underneath, I'm shaking. Iam looking forward to tomorrow to meet my surgeon. I just want to get the ball rolling and evict this unwanted visitor from my boob! Thanks again for reaching out to me. I want all of you to know that it is putting my mind at ease. Im positive everything Will be ok.
Hugs to

hopeful: Agree with the others, you will feel much better when you have a treatment plan in place. Is there BC in your family? With your age and TN diagnosis, I would think genetic testing would be recommended. Be sure to ask about that... it will help inform your surgical decisions.

Sending you hugs as well.

Thank you all for posting.
Luah-My maternal grandmother and aunt have BC.I have an appointment to see a geneticist next week. I'm planning on having prophylactic left side mastectomy. So total bilateral masectomy. For piece of mind for sure. Do you know what additional information the geneticist can provide?
